Government have from time to time received complaint that Government servants ham been subjected to interference in the discharge of their official duties by political workers. Government rl!cognise that such interference tends to hamper the effie>ien<'y of the administration a a whole. The matter has heen carefully con idered by Govern- ment and the necessity for affording protection to Government servants against any possible inter- ference with their official duties or threats from political workers has been ree>ognised in principle.

Government have. taken up the matter with the Congress authorities in the Province with a view to discourage such interference in the future. The highest authorities of the Indian National Congress have also strestred the same principle.

Government wish to make it clear to all their ofli1·ers that they exped the officer to do their

To ALL OFFICERS IN TIIIS PROVINCE.

Calcutta, the 8th Septe1nber, 1948.

Government have from time to time received complaint that Government servants ham been ubjected to interference in the discharge of their official duties by political workers. Government recognise. that such interference tends to hamper the efficiency ot the administration as a. whole. The matter has been carefully considered by· Govern- ment. and the necessity for afi'ording protection to Government servants against any possible inter- ference with their official duties or threats from political workers has been recognised in principle.

GoV'ernment have taken up the matter with the Congress authoritie in the Province with a .view to discourage such interference in the future. The highest authorities of the Indian National Congress have also stressed the same principle.

Government wish to make it dear to all their officers that they expect the officers to do their
