Dt: 07-12-2020 Minutes of the 12th Board of Studies (BoS) meeting held on 04-12-2020
Chairman, BoS extended a warm and hearty welcome to all the Hon’ble members of the BoS. He expressed sincere thanks to them for conveying their willingness to be on the Board of Studies. He conveyed regards to all the members for their valuable suggestions, advices, guidelines and concern toward overall development of the department. Further he requested them to guide the department to reach greater academic position with their wisdom.
He has placed the agenda of items of the meeting for consideration, suggestions, and approval from the members of the BoS. Few constructive recommendations/comments were given by Hon’ble members. The HoD expressed his happiness for such fruitful discussions and excellent guidance being offered by all the Hon’ble members.
With the reference to each agenda item, proceedings of the Board of Studies meeting are given below:
Items placed in the present meeting.
1. Discussion & Approval of course structure for B. Tech Program under R 20 regulations.
To align the course structure with respect to Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education, Hon’ble members were made the following recommendations.
• To include the course R programming as Skill Oriented Course in III semester
• To move the Internet of Things course from III semester to IV semester.
• To replace Natural Language Processing course name with Natural Language Processing Toolkit as Skill Advanced Course in VII semester.
• To include Computer Architecture course in Minor degree courses.
• To include Deep Learning course in Honor degree courses.
• To allow the CSE students to opt the open elective courses which are offered by CSE, if it not opted earlier
➢ With the modifications Course Structure of B. Tech Program was Approved.
2. Detailed discussion & Approval of UG course content (syllabus) of semesters I-IV under R20 Regulations along with Course Outcomes & Mapping (Cos).
After a lengthy discussion on Course contents, CO Statements and Mapping, the following suggestions were given by Hon’ble members.
• In the IV semester Universal Human Values course under HS course code may be taught by Science & Humanities department in association with CSE. Also call the competent persons externally to emphasize on human values and ethical values.
• Object Oriented Programming course syllabus should cover all the basic concepts of OOP and include the concepts of differences between functional programming and object-oriented programming. The syllabus should not be restricted to the JAVA language.
• At least 3 or 4 programs in DBMS, OS & CN Laboratories may be in Blooms’
Level 5 & 6.
➢ With above suggestions, the syllabi from I to IV semesters along with CO statements was approved.
3. Discussion and approval of Open Electives offered for B. Tech program under R20 Regulations.
• BoS approved the Open electives offered by CSE & Suggested to include Game Theory course in Open Electives offered by the other departments.
4. Discussion on Minor Degree / Honors concept for B. Tech Program under R20 regulation.
• BoS felts that course to be offered in Honor degree must familiarize the student in a particular field. So offer the courses by placing specialized track course in each pool and allow the students to opt the specific specialized course from each pool based on his interest.
5. Discussion & Approval of PEO & PSO Statements
After a fruitful discussion on modified PEO & PSO statements, the BoS approved the both PEO & PSO statements.
6. Any other matter with the permission of Chair
• BoS members accepted the proposed Minor degree tracks under R20 Regulations.
