RINL CSR –bags award for “Excellence in Contribution to Society through CSR”
‘Nethra Jyothi’: 15 eye camps were organized through Nethra Jyothi mobile eye care van during the month in villages of Visakhapatnam District. 769 individuals were tested and free cataract surgeries were performed on 48 eligible beneficiaries.
Cataract surgeries through VSGH: A project for providing free cataract surgeries to patients belonging to BPL families through ophthalmology department of Visakha Steel General Hospital as a CSR initiative of RINL has been taken up. Under the above project cataract surgeries were successfully performed on 2 (two) patients during June’ 2018.
Education
‘Pathashala Ki Aabharanam’: To address the infrastructure deficit, 100 (One hundred) three seater dual desk benches were provided to Govt. ITI, Gajuwaka. The dual desk benches which were fabricated by the students of the same ITI also provided them valuable hands on experience. In a function organised at Govt. ITI Gajuwaka, Shri PK Mohapatra GM(L&A) handed over the same to the principal of the ITI in the presence of Shri G.Gandhi, DGM(CSR).
‘Siksha’ : With the view that ‘Education is a key enabler to social change’ RINL is providing free and quality education to 1600 students from BPL families from the surrounding villages of plant and mines.
‘Chethana’: The Adult Literacy Programme of 6 months duration, taken up in 25 centres including the surrounding village of the plant, Mines and tribal villages of Visakhapatnam, has been successfully progressing . Through the programme, 625 beneficiaries are being have been benefitted in acquiring basic reading, writing and math skills.
Sanitation
Drinking water Supply: Supply of drinking water through tankers for a period of four months to the residents of Agnampudi and Gangavaram Rehabilitation colonies of Plant and its surrounding villages is continuing . Every day 70,000 liters of drinking water is being supplied through tankers to the residents of RH colonies to ensure access to drinking water.

Jaladhara: is a flagship CSR initiative of RINL for providing potable drinking water through gravity to the tribal hamlets of Visakhapatnam District. The activity is progressing in four tribal villages of Araku Valley Mandal. The project will benefit around 620 residents of the four tribal villages.

RINL has bagged the award for ‘Excellence in Contribution to Society through CSR’ in PSU category instituted by Vizagpatnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry. District Collector Shri Praveen Kumar, IAS, presented the award to RINL in the august presence of Shri Prabir Raychaudhury CMD, RINL. On behalf of RINL, Shri PK Mohapatra GM(L&A) &
Shri G.Gandhi, DGM(CSR), received the award in a grand function organised at Visakhapatnam. VCCI has instituted excellence awards to recognise the people and companies that have demonstrated unique vision and achievement to boost Visakhapatnam region’s economy and business community.
Digital transaction Awareness
An awareness session on promotion of digital transactions was organised at Govt. ITI, Gajuwaka. During the interactive session the advantages of digital transactions and the precautions to be taken were explained. A practical demo on usage of BHIM Application was also conducted. Around 280 students and staff members participated in the session.
Swachh Bharat activities were carried out in various Departments of VSP during the Month.
