The department of Information Science & Engineering, R/ V. College of Engineering, Bengaluru has conducted “ISE Alumni Meet” on Sunday, 23-10-2016 in ISE seminar hall. As per our invitation more than 85 alumni have registered to participate in the event. The event started with breakfast at 9.30 am in the department. subsequently all the participants assembled in ISE seminar hall at 10.30 am. Prof. Rashmi R (Alumni coordinator) gave brief background of the event. Mrs. Anisha B S rendered the invocation for a good start. Dr. N K Cauvery (HOD-ISE) welcomed all the alumni, faculty members, invitees for this event. Dr. K N Subramanya(Principal), Prof. K N Raja Rao(Advisor), Dr. N K Srinath(Former HOD-ISE & General secretary Alumni Association), Mr. Ramakrishna S(President, Alumni Association), Dr. N C Naveen, Dr. R Vasantha, Dr.

Minal Moharir were other dignitaries present. Dr. Cauvery presented the department information for the gathering by indicating the latest developments. Dr. B M Sagar presented the information about placements, department level competitions etc. Later Prof. Rashmi requested Dr. G S Mamatha to present the achievements of ISE Alumni. Among the information available few significant alumni achievers were honored with a memento on this occasion.

The department visualized to help poor students by means of scholarship. To support this social cause, HOD and other interested staff members extended their support pooled money for this purpose. Dr.

Shantharam Nayak briefed about the process adapted in selecting and identifying poor students for scholarship. The needy economically poor students(Two) were given scholarship on this occasion. Mr.

Ramakrishna and Dr. N K Srinath felicitated the beneficiaries. To break the monotony, the current student volunteers arranged for a cultural programme. The participants enjoyed the moments. Dr. Ramakanth Kumar Dean Academics & Former HOD addressed the gathering and advised the alumni to associate with the institution. On this occasion it was proposed to inaugurate a coding club (Insync) of RVCE initiated by ISE department. Prof. D. Priya has coordinated this inauguration. Later Prof. Chethana R Murthy planned to start &

inaugurate consultancy group. It was done very systematically. Dr. K N Subramanya – Principal RVCE graced the occasion. He presented the information about RVCE and its achievements. He requested the alumni to support the department and the institution in whatever the way possible. Later Prof. K N Raja Rao advised the alumni members to frequently visit the alma-mater and involve in the laboratory setup, curriculum development, helping in placement preparation etc. He opined that the active involvement of alumni in the institution building carry long way for the prosperity and growth.

Finally Mr. Ramakrishna S – President Alumni Association addressed the gathering. He wished all the alumni and advised to contribute significantly to our institution. Alumni Association is planning to donate a building in the name of Alumni to the institution. This project will be successful if majority of alumni join their hands and donate. Dr. G N Srinivasan proposed vote of thanks. He thanked all the participants, volunteers, invitees and others. The event concluded with National Anthem at 1.45 pm.
