Career Profile
I have a total of ten years of work experience. I joined as a teacher in the Department of Psychology of Gargi College five years ago where I have acquired experience in undergraduate teaching. Apart from teaching I have been involved in guiding extramural research projects of students. I have also served as teacher-mentor for the Psychology Association of the College for the past three years; organized several important seminars and lectures under the aegis of the Association.
Prior to joining Gargi College I secured experience in teaching postgraduate Psychology courses as faculty member of the Department of Psychology of Jamia Millia Islamia which is a NAAC accredited ‘A’ Grade Central university. I also served as faculty for their Post-graduate Diploma program in Guidance and Counselling. As a part of this program I have guided several field-experience based dissertations of students.
I have also served as faculty member under Jamsetji Tata Trusts funded project:
“Institutionalising an M.Phil. program in Development Practice” housed at the Center for Development Practice of Ambedkar University, Delhi. As a faculty member I independently designed, developed and taught a course titled ‘Discourses on Wellbeing’, which was situated at the cusp of Economics, Development Studies and Psychology, and tried to bridge theory and practice. I have also taught a course titled ‘Gender and Development’ as a part of the MPhil program. I played a crucial role in authoring and attracting some of the research grants that are housed at the Centre for Development Practice in Ambedkar University, Delhi, and have also played a crucial role in grant administration. As a part of this project I have organized several action research workshops, capacity building programs for development practitioners in rural India, and have myself undergone village field immersion experiences.
I have been part of the development of the course curriculum for many of the programs that are offered at Ambedkar University, Delhi notably BA (Hons) in Psychology, MA in Gender Studies, MPhil in Development Practice, and provided research assistance at the Center for Community Knowledge, Centre for Social Science Research Methods at Ambedkar University, Delhi. Since the University was in its infancy at that stage I also participated in development of policies and best practices for academic administration.
I have also worked as a Counsellor in the area of end of life, palliative care at Safdarjung hospital, New Delhi for about two years.
