As a part of the Sri Ramachandra Campus Environment Day celebrations, the Sri Ramachandra Centre for Women’s Advancement(SRCWA )conducted an awareness programme, with the theme SAY NO TO PLASTICS.
The first event to commemorate this occasion, was a street play, performed by our nursing students, in the G block on 27th of March,2019. The street play emphasised the importance of avoiding plastics, as much as possible and to replace plastic with other biodegradable material.
This event also witnessed inspiring speeches being delivered by important dignitaries and officers of the University, Dr.PV.Vijayaraghavan, Vice Chancellor, Dr KV. Somasundaram, Advisor(Academics ), Dr Anandan,Dean of the Medical College, Dr Jambu,Medical Superintendent, Dr Shankar,Prof and Head of environmental sciences and Mr Kumar, safety officer. There were also contributions from the patients and the attenders, who attended the OPD.
This was followed by street play by the students, who very effectively brought out the message of saving the environment, by saying no to plastics.
Collage competition and skit competitions were conducted the previous day, for which prizes were announced by the Vice Chancellor.
The next event to celebrate the occasion was a campus Eco walk , on 31st March,2019,the birth anniversary of Smt Kamalam Ramasamy Udayar. There was a walk, followed by planting 75 rose saplings by students , faculty members and children on the slope, marking the 75th birth anniversary of Smt.Kamalam Ramasamy Udayar.
