Subject: RMI ship security advisory reg. Guidance provided by Combined Maritime Forces on Maritime Security Transit Corridor.

 Republic of Marshall Islands has issued ship security advisory no. 07-18 informing about Guidance provided by Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) on Maritime Security Transit Corridor.

 Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) is a multi-national naval partnership founded in 2002;

to promote security, stability and prosperity across approximately 3.2 million square miles of international waters mainly focusing on defeating terrorism, preventing piracy, encouraging regional cooperation, and promoting a safe maritime environment.

 Recent attacks against merchant shipping in the Gulf of Aden and Bab Al Mandeb have highlighted the risks associated with transiting these waters. The Combined Maritime Forces has established a Maritime Security Transit Corridor (MSTC) to protect merchant ships navigating in these regions.

 The purpose of MSTC is to provide a recommended merchant traffic route around which multi-national Naval Forces can focus their presence and surveillance efforts. The MSTC consists of:

1. The Internationally Recommended Transit Corridor (IRTC)

2. The BAM Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) and the TSS West of the Hanish Islands 3. A two-way route directly connecting the IRTC and the BAM TSS

 Ship Owners and operators are advised to take note of above and be guided by attached guidance.
