Virtual Reality is one of the technologies with the greatest scope for advance- ment in the future. This combined with the Metaverse and AI can build a world as a testament to what the human brain is capable of. This helps us push the boundaries of what we know of the universe and improve our way of life.

Virtual Reality is a classic example of a technology made by humans which crosses the line between supporting life and edging towards destruction in the name of advancement. VR and the Metaverse will only lead to us losing the purpose of life and getting stuck in an endless loop of serving ourselves with no regard for the life around us.

Augmented Reality coupled with Artificial Intelligence, brings changes in every sphere of how we lead life, how we play games and how we shop to name a few.
It betters experiences exponentially and finds its implementations in a variety of fields.
4 Against
While it improves experiences, the same technology results in extreme cases of addiction. Healthcare, especially mental health will see a surge in patients, and this will only get worse with time. Children will not experience a healthy childhood and fail to develop basic human skills and sensitivity to social issues.

AI’s advancement will ensure that it strives to solve its issues. Mental health will be prioritised in the virtual world, and we will reach a point where technology will do a better job of healing people than humans could ever reach.
6 Against
This will ensure that all humans lead their whole lives trapped in the virtual world. Our instincts to interact with other beings will take a hit, and every real-world activity will be viewed as a chore. While eating and travelling bring happiness to many people today, that will slowly tether away, and advancement in VR will be entirely responsible for it.

Living in the virtual world is not inherently a bad thing and is just a change which will take time to get used to. The joys of life are never set in stone and evolve with us humans. VR, AI and the Metaverse will create new ways of happiness and life and change the way we look at a lot of things.
8 Against
Humans will lose a sense of reality and how things plan out in the real world.
While trying to optimise our brain’s capabilities with services to itself, humans will always need to remember that other species and environments exist. We are entrusted with preserving them, without which the food chain will be in disarray and affect life.

Virtual Reality and its development is a significant benchmark in technology and scientific advancement. Like the exploration of the world around us, curiosity is inherent in us to explore what worlds we are capable of creating. It is inevitable for species with brain capacities as such, and our inhibitions are only us resisting change.
10 Against
Moderation of science is a dire need. Not all advancement is good and regulatory measures taking account of the world around us will keep us grounded. Calling it inevitable only helps ease our conscience of accountability, as it is undeniable

that this is selfish behaviour. Our escapism from tough conversations will not change reality, and so doesn’t creating a play world to cater to our brains.
11 For
This is evolution and is natural for species with our brain capacity to create a VR in the process of trying to prolong our species and better understand the world around us. This is just one step, and if AI can keep in mind the real world around us, this will do no harm and will benefit life.
12 Against
It is also natural for us to want to live and experience life. Wholly losing ourselves to non-living objects and ignoring living interactions is what destroys life. We need to reevaluate and ensure we only pursue technology which eases life instead of erasing it as the virtual world does.
