Dear TWAS Member,

I am writing to you concerning the TWAS Research Professors in Least Developed Countries (LDCs) programme.

As you might already know, this programme is aimed at providing institutions and research groups located in LDCs with the opportunity to establish long-term links with TWAS members to assist in research activities and advanced training and so help to develop local scientific capacity.

Please note that only TWAS Members are eligible for appointment as TWAS Research Professors.

The appointment will normally be for five years, during which period the TWAS Research Professor is expected to visit the host institution three times for a minimum stay of one month each time.

In this connection, I am pleased to circulate the attached file in order to receive feedback on your availability of putting your expertise to the service of the advancement of science in these countries.

Letters of interest from TWAS Members will be used to further develop a roster of experts willing to participate in the programme. The roster will be circulated shortly to scientific institutions in LDCs to provide them with the opportunity to select an expert appropriate to their needs.

As the deadline for receiving applications from institutions in LDCs is 31 October 2017, should you be interested in joining the Programme, we would
