Affiliation Process:
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) is being the largest affiliating universities in the state of Telangana, the quality of education in the colleges affiliated to JNTUH, thus reflect the quality of engineers from the state. The Academic Audit Cell is primarily to monitor and regulate all the activities of the affiliated colleges including affiliation process.
The University is accountable to the society in maintaining high academic standards in its Constituent and Affiliated Colleges. In order to improve the quality of Technical Education, JNTUH has developed a clear and transparent method of Affiliation Procedure, and implemented it through online. A separate portal has been launched in public domain for updating information of all the affiliated colleges from time to time, which is authenticated by the Director, Academic Audit Cell of the University.
During every Academic Year, the University Academic Audit Cell of JNTUH constitutes Fact Finding Committees (FFCs) and deputes them to the colleges to assess the status of Faculty, Staff, Library, Laboratories, Building Space, Infrastructure, and other facilities. Based on the FFC Reports, the University identifies eligible colleges along with their courses and intake, and accordingly affiliation letters are issued to the colleges.

The following Reforms are implemented in the year 2020-21:
1. Guidelines for grant of Permanent Affiliation in the Affiliated Colleges
Colleges with academic and operative freedom can do better and have more credibility. Hence, UGC, in this direction, has proposed to increase the number of autonomous colleges to spread the culture of autonomy and the target is to make 10 per cent of eligible colleges autonomous by the end of the XII Plan period.JNT University Hyderabad, as a first step towards Autonomy has proposed to float the process of granting Permanent Affiliation for a period of three years to the existing Affiliated Colleges under its purview. So, the Colleges who are in future willing to become self-sufficient from academic and financial fronts can seek of Permanent Affiliation from the University based on Self-Appraisal.
Therefore, from the academic year 2020-21 onwards JNTUH will be verifying the credibility of the affiliated Colleges for the issue of Permanent Affiliation status.
2. Submission of Grievances to the University by the Faculty members & Students of Affiliated Colleges in online mode
In order to reduce the time taken for resolving the grievances faced by faculty members and students of affiliated Colleges, the University has enhanced the Grievances Redressal System by introducing the submission of grievances by the faculty members and Students through online mode.
3. Meeting with Stakeholders of the University
A meeting was convened with the stakeholders of the University on 25-02-2020 predominantly involving the Managements and Principals of the Affiliated Colleges to appraise them about new reforms, best practices and upcoming challenges in near future pertaining to Academic curriculum (inclusion of courses in Emerging Areas), Examinations, Affiliation Process, Research & Development and other Student centric activities. The meeting was graced by around 600 representatives belonging 250 Colleges, who have given their valuable suggestions apart from their concerns for the overall development of Quality of Higher Education. Subsequently, the Affiliation Procedure and Regulations for the ensuing academic year 2020-21 have been revised and process of grant of Permanent Affiliation was floated.
4. Implementation of Facial Recognition System (FRS)
Owing to the pandemic COVID-19 situation prevailing, the Aadhaar based Biometric attendance system (based on Fingerprint recognition) which was used to monitor the daily attendance of Faculty members
and Students in both Constituent Units & Affiliated Colleges of the University has been dispensed with and Facial Recognition System was identified as an alternative. Facial Recognition System is capable of identifying or verifying a person from a digital image or a video frame from a video / camera source and it is widely adopted due to its contactless and non-invasive process. Further, it is described as a Biometric Artificial Intelligence based application that can uniquely identify a person by analyzing patterns based on the person's facial textures.
