A digital divide is any uneven distribution within the access to, use of, or impact of data and communications technologies between any number of distinct groups, which may be defined supported social, geographical, or geopolitical criteria, or otherwise the varied facets of Digital Divide in India are as follows:-

1) Telecom facility, not digital progression consistent with a report released by the Telecom regulatory agency of India (TRAI) on June this year, the country had over 1,160 million wireless subscribers in February 2020, up from 1.01 million in February 2016. This is often an increase of 150 million subscribers in five years or 30 million per annum. The expansion has been evenly distributed in urban and rural areas, with the number of urban subscribers increasing by 74 million (from 579 million to 643 million).

2) The Urban-Rural Divide, Services like online classrooms, financial transactions and e- governance require access to the web also because the ability to work internet-enabled devices like phones, tablets and computers. Here the urban-rural distinction is sort of stark. Consistent with the NSSO conducted between July 2017 and June 2018, just 4.4 rural households have a computer, against 14.4 per cent in a populated area. It had just 14.9 per cent rural households having access to the web against 42 per cent households in urban areas. 3) Regional Divide, States too greatly differ in terms of individuals that have access to computers or within the know-how to use the web. Himachal Pradesh leads the country in access to the web in both, rural and concrete areas. 4) Digital Gender Divide, India has among the world’s highest gender gap in access to technology. Only 21 per cent of girls in India are mobile internet users, consistent with GSMA’s 2020 mobile gender gap report, while 42 per cent of men have access.

The report says that while 79 per cent of men own a mobile within the country, the amount for ladies is 63 per cent. While there do economic barriers to girls’ own a mobile or laptop, cultural and social norms also play a serious part. The male-female gap in mobile use often exacerbates other inequalities for ladies, including access to information, economic opportunities, and networking.

5) Others, the earning member of the family has got to carry the phone while going bent work. Access to phones and therefore the internet isn't just an economic factor but also social and cultural. If one family has only one phone, there's an honest chance that the wife or the daughter are going to be the last one to use it

5. CONCLUSION

Online education has both advantages and shortcomings, but it is a superb method of learning which can help develop a student’s performance to realize online education, one should choose an ideal university and course to avoid pursuing education from among the numerous suspicious universities that employers may reject. The opposite most essential thing is to assure that one must maintain communication with the varsity faculty and fellow students. The important point is proper time administration that helps one manage our time to finish and submit prescribed assignments in time. The committee on Information Technology in January 2019 concluded that the digital literacy efforts of the government are far away from satisfactory. Clearly, internet penetration isn't deep enough.

At one level, we all recognise that the web has become indispensable. Second level is not everyone’s attention, it is more important that the development of everyone with it is necessary to overcome the problem of the digital divide.
