IMPACT ON THE EDUCATION SECTOR AFTER THE PANDEMIC: ONLINE TEACHING LEARNING

1 INTRODUCTION

Corona Virus which is commonly known as COVID-19 is an infectious disease that causes illness in the respiratory system in humans. The term Covid 19 is sort of an acronym, derived from “Novel Corona Virus Disease 2019”. Corona Virus has affected our day to day life. This pandemic has affected millions of peoples, who are either sick or are being killed due to the spread of this disease.

Corona virus (or COVID-19) was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan city of China. In March 2020, the World Health organization (WHO) declared the Corona Virus outbreak a pandemic.

Due to Corona Virus, the Government of India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced nationwide lockdown for 21 days on 23 March 2020, limiting the movement of the entire 1.3 billion population of India as a preventing measure against the Corona virus pandemic in India. As a result, in India, all educational institutions and almost every commercial establishment had to be shut down. In India, the government has announced the lockdown and closure of educational institutions as a logical solution to enforce social distancing within communities. To support their decision Ministry of Human Resource Development in their press release (March 21, 2020) shared various free digital e-learning platforms such as the National programmed on Technology.

Online education started during this pandemic by staying safe at home. This was the first time in India that online classes were conducted on this large scale. From school students to college students participated in it. From students to school teachers to professors participated in it. In this many types of platforms were used virtual like google meet, google class room, cisco - webex etc. With the help of all these platforms, education became possible even during the pandemic.

Benefits of online Teaching Learning - Following are the benefits of online classes/learning that can help students and their parents for study-

Minimum investment: The best part of online learning it is affordable compared to offline classes learning. In online classes, parents or guardian are free to one time investment to buy mobile or computer or laptop.

Time-Saving: In online classes, there is no requirement to go anywhere like school or college, Easy attendance: Students can give their attendance right from the comfort of their homes. So they can continue classes without any absence.

Pre recorded classes: Online learning is often self-paced or pre recorded so where you can do your work in your own time, unlike traditional classes. If there are no teachers, so you can easily take your own leisure time in finishing your work.

Less competition: There is less competition as compared to offline class. Students can rewind and watch the classes again, This is the reason that student learns more.

More accessible: Online education can be obtained more easily from home .Distance education has existed because of its ease and universal access to online education.

Losses of online Teaching Learning - Following are the losses of online classes/learning Harmful to eyes and health: Continuous looking at the computer or mobile screen has a bad effect on the eyes and the eye side is also week. Similarly, sitting in front of the computer in the same poster increases the problem of neck and back pain, in which the problem of obesity also starts.

Lack of internet connection and internet speed: Internet facility is available in all areas of the country, but the problem of internet speed remains even today, which hinders online education.

Copying problem: Teachers cannot be physically present in online classes, in such a situation the problem of cheating is getting worse.

Expensive: The resources required for online education like mobile, laptop, computer, pen drive and hard disk etc are not very cheap. Due to expensive resources, even today, online education is not a matter of every person.

3 CONCLUSION

With the increasing technology demand or development, the demand for online class is the need of the future, it will be necessary to make some improvements to make it more experimental or authentic. Online classes can be developed more in the future. They are as such:

By making classes more interactive

By making students more vigilant towards rules By asking students/teachers for feedback By making technology more accessible.
