TERRORISM : A THREAT TO PEACE

Terrorism is a word but it is very hazard for mankind. Terrorism is a systematic use of violence to create a general climate of fear in a population & thereby to bring about a particular political objectives or Terrorism means the unlawful use of violence or thread of violence to create terror for achieving a religious, economic, ideological or political goals in disregard of the safety of victims or We can say, Terrorism means the policy of striking terror in the minds of people by violence method to achieve their goals.

1. MEANING OF TERRORISM

1“Terrorism is a word which derived from Latin word „Terrere‟ which mean “To frighten” It‟s theory is to create fear &

violence in the society”¹.

²“Definitions of terrorism are usually Complex & controversial & because of inherent ferocity & violence of terrorism, the term in its popular usage has developed as intense stigma. It was first coined in the 1760‟s to refer to the terror used during the French revolution by the revolutionaries against their opponents.

Since 20^th century the term has been applied most frequently to violence aimed either directly or indirectly”²

Who is terrorist???. A terrorist is a person who creates fear panic among the organization to which he belongs.

2. HOW THE TERRORISM IS A THREAT TO PEACE

The word terrorism is a big terror in itself.

It is big fear rather than a disease which affects the lives of millions of innocent‟s people. It spread like a flu & it‟s never end. It is very dangerous like a cancer.

But We are the “People” of this world, We are the superior creatures & can even touch God‟s feet. We are happy and satisfied too, to live as God‟s beautiful creation.

But what is this? The fears of people: shrieks of innocent children; the dirty colour of damaged houses, the feeling of fear, hatred & violence etc.

And the source of this is none other than terrorism which has become a threat for peace. More so, in the recent

past, the menace of terrorism has spread itself across the world.

1.1 Some examples are :-

 ³“September 11, 2001: Attacks on twin tower of the World Trade Center in U.S.A.

 October 1, 2001: Attack on J & K Assembly building in India.

 December 13, 2001: Attack on the Parliament in India.

 July 7, 2005: Blast in London‟s tube stations”^3.

Incidents of such attacks are countless. These attacks present the horrible pictures of terrorism which has spread all over the world. Whether he is a common man or is a minister of any country, every person is as the risk of this menace. When a person leaves his/her home for office, market or even for walk, he/she is not sure whether h/she will come back safely because of that It creates hatred in the mind of the people for each other & ultimately leads to the world of destruction. Terrorism is a monster of violence. It is spreading in the world as butter gets spreads over the bread. Seems funny but sadly very true.

Terrorism in India is primarily attributable some religious communities

& Naxalite radical movement.

None is there upon whom we can trust in today‟s life. Everyone loves himself & everyone‟s life is also very important & precious but in today none cares for the same for others. Gone are the days when a neighbor even used to die for saving the life of the others. But in

2 present – what is happening now a day. A brother kills the other for the money or any kind of revenge. Is revenge so big or small but today‟s we are becoming so cheap that we are getting motivated &

encouraged to kill each other. Why is hatred growing in us for our neighbour brothers or countries but now the generation is practical & selfish because they are thinking about their self only.

Terrorist were not born but made in the name of religion. No religion preaches about terrorism & nor ask the followers to take the lives of the other people but preached by the wrong leaders or our self condition also responsible for becoming a terrorist.

In India is the same where great people like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Nehru, Tilak were Born???. They fought for the country for making a better nation --- a better future. If today they are alive, they would rather like to die then seeing our country in such a bitter condition.

How much bitterness & hatred is filled in our minds for others. To hate anyone is very easy & it can do nothing except devastation but rather loving &

forgiving really makes a difference. We are the Indians & we always wants peace in India & India is a peaceful country. We are surely made for creating differences not for shedding blood for nothing.

But terrorist can do anything kidnap people or hijack aero planes to pressurise for the release of their militant accomplices detained by the security forces of some countries.

It is final analysis or It is clear that terrorism does not have respect for human lives & values. It has claimed thousands of lives of innocent souls rendered millions of people homeless &

economically handicapped. Alas, it is clearer that terrorism has turned our world into a place conductive for its existence & spread.

3. EFFECTS OF TERRORISM FOR PEACE

Indisputable, terrorism is threat for world peace. As it thrives well in a world such as ours – where violation of human rights, rising violence, conflict, ethnic, national and religious discrimination, socio- economic marginalization & extreme ideology & dehumanization of victims are prominently in practice, it is succeeded in

disregarding human lives & values, launching war on freedom & peace, multiple violence & conflicts & posting challenges of solving the problem of injustice, insecurity & declining economy.

4“We cannot have prosperity without peace, and the principle threat to peace now is terrorist. The poor are the most vulnerable victims of terrorism, not least because conflict leads to devastation”⁴.

Let me conclude by returning to the topic: Is terrorism a threat to peace? I think we have all see that is. How do we make it less of a threat? In concert with friends & allies, seeks to defeat terrorism by following steps.

 We will defeat terrorist organization of global reach by attacking their leadership, command, control &

communication material support &

finances.

 We will deny further sponsorship &

sanctuary to terrorist by working closely with our willing & able allies.

 We will diminish the underlying conditions that terrorists seeks to exploit by enlisting the international community to focus efforts &

resources on the area‟s most at risk.

 World‟s citizens & interest at home &

abroad by proactively protecting our homeland & ensuring we identify &

neutralize the threat as possible.

Victory in war on terrorism will be achieved when our children can live free from fear & when the threat to terrorist attacks no longer hangs over our daily lives.

Peace is the essential part of our lives, without it this world looks like a hell. However, the war on terror has completely destroyed the peace of the affected countries. Therefore, after the increasing rate of terrorism, many countries have modified their policies to fix security issues & increase their budget of defense to improve their defense system. To ensure world peace, all the nations are working hard by taking effective initiatives but to eliminate it permanently the whole world must help each other so that this growing menace can be countered easily & quickly.

3 4. CONCLUSION

As you will agree with me that terrorism affects all of us, our approach to fighting or countering terrorism & ensuring a safe

& peaceful world must be collective.

However, it is worth nothing that the world leaders, followers have vital role to play in the fight against terrorism & in achieving our goals for peace & security.

But we all the countries or international organization come together & support each other then we can get peaceful &

secure world.
