The ambition of the modern nation-state to create meager, well-defined borders has been belied in the fixeds of North Bengal. That is because, conceptually, the idea of the state – and by that logic. Continuum of Violence: The Case of Indo-Bangladesh Border
In the attachment there were names of the people who were killed from both sides from 2007 to 2010. The editors may or may not support a political party or line, but usually news is about the everyday lives of the people in the area.
However, the reality is that since the beginning of the twentieth century, in the context of Bengal at least, there has been mass migration from east to west. Contrary to popular perception, the largest number of population movements occurred before, during and immediately after the Radcliffe Partition. One way of looking at this is the number of undocumented migrants in border jails.
The two parts of the 24 Parganas are closest to Kolkata and have a high population density.
