Abstract
The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of regular physical activity on adolescent girls’ mental health.
This study is a quasi experimental design with both experimental and control groups following pre and post tests. The
1321 ﯽﺷزرو ﯽﺳﺎﻨﺷ ناور و ﯽﺘﮐﺮﺣ رﺎﺘﻓر
population includes all the female high school students in Babol, west Bandpay in the educational year of 92-93. All the participants were selected using simple random selection method and assigned randomly to control and experimental group. Then experimental group participated in a course of regular physical activity for eight weeks (two sessions in each week, each session about 70-90 minutes). Date were gathered and analyzed using questionnaires and Spss v.16.
The result of pre test showed no significant difference between control and experimental group in anxiety, depression, aggression, physical complaints, and interpersonal sensitivity. Yet, it showed a significant difference between groups in post test. It proves that regular exercise will improve students’ mental health. Thus, developing and applying such programs will lead to an improved mental health.
