The effectiveness of the Five-step micro skills model and Problem based learning clinical education on critical thinking, anxiety, satisfaction and attitude in nursing student
Protocol summary
Summary
This randomized controlled trial design to determine the effect of the Five-step micro skills model and Problem based learning clinical education on critical thinking, anxiety, satisfaction and attitude in nursing students.
Inclusion criteria include choosing the clinical lesson of 3th medical-surgical nursing, passing theory lesson of 3th medical-surgical nursing in previous term and not having unknown anxiety disorder. An exclusion criterion is being absence more than one session. All of the nursing students with inclusion criteria enter to this study. Nursing students have divided to 3 groups. One type of clinical education (included: Five-step micro skills model and Problem based learning clinical education and Routine clinical education) perform for each group. At the first training session in each group, students will presence in an orientation-educational class at the hospital and fill the critical thinking questionnaires. Then the clinical educations perform for each group. In the last session of each course, students will complete the questionnaire of satisfaction, anxiety and attitude. A week after the end of the course students will be completed critical thinking questionnaire.

For one group of students perform Problem based learning clinical education. It includes 6-step instruction as follows.description of the method, find the problem (the history of a patient and diagnose the patient problem), collecting the data (use the resources), make the hypothesis (possible solutions, designing Nursing intervention), hypothesis testing (doing nursing intervention) and conclusions, the popularization and application (evaluation).
