“ Emergency Debate: Today’s Nuclear Deterrence and East Asia’s Security Environment”
President Putin’s threat referring to Russia’s nuclear weapons in conjunction with the Russian military aggression in Ukraine is unilaterally heightening the international tension. Current situation regarding nuclear deterrence, said to be the most serious since the Cuban Crisis, is expected to have an impact on the ongoing Nuclear Posture Review by the United States, and draws attention with grave concern from the viewpoint of its ramification to the security environment in East Asia including Japan. Experts from Japan and the United States will discuss today’s situation of nuclear deterrence, focusing on East Asia’s security environment.
