【Year 3】 今月の歌 Lucy Locket CD no. 4 (メロディーがアルプス一万尺と一緒です。 ) 3 年生は、学校の教科の語彙を学習しています。自分が得意な 教科や何曜日に何の授業があるのか英語で言う練習をしまし た。最終的には自分の理想の時間割を作成します。子どもたちの 一週間の時間割がどのようになるのか楽しみです。
今月の語句は i が真ん中にくる三文字の言葉です。あまり馴 染みのない言葉もありますが、新しい言葉と生活につなげ、語彙 を習得していきます。一学期と同様に単語のテストは先生の発音 した単語と絵と文字を合わせるというテストです。ご家庭でも宿 題を通して単語を練習してください。
【Year 5】今月の歌 Pop! Goes the Weasel! CD no. 33 5 年生は、Where is ～?という質問に、on や in、under を使って場 所を答える表現を学習しました。宝物をどこに隠すかという質問 では、in や under を使っていろいろなアイディアが出てきました。
また、T と D のつく早口言葉も練習しました。どれくらい早く言え るようになったでしょうか。聞いてあげて下さい。
今月の語句は、gr, pr, dr, tr のつく言葉です。音が似ています が、前回勉強した gl, pl と混同しないように気をつけましょう。
一学期と同様に単語のテストでは、Reading（文字と絵をつなげ る）、listening（先生の発音した単語と絵を合わせる）、writing（絵 を見て書く）という 3 つのテストを行います。先頭の 2 文字が書け れば OK ですが、つづりを全部書けるように挑戦してみましょう。

【Year 1】 今月の歌 Two Little Dicky Birds CD no. 41 はじめての夏休み宿題でしたがとても良くできていました。ご 家庭のご協力ありがとうございました。
1 年生は 2 学期の初めに色と数字の復習をしました。現在は昆 虫の名前と、昆虫の主な体のパーツの名前（胴体、羽、触角、足）
を学習しています。その学習をふまえて、昆虫とそうでないもの の 2 つに分ける活動をしました。子どもたちは一生懸命取り組み、
虫の写真を見て楽しんでいます。
【Year 4】 今月の歌 Rub a dub dub CD no. 28 4 年生は、Can（～ができる）という表現を学習しました。動物の できることを考えたり、先生のできることクイズなどをしたりしま した。自分のできることを発表し、ライティングもしました。みんな とても良く書けていました。次回からは、自分の生まれた月や生 まれた場所の言い方を学習します。

【Year 2】 今月の歌 Humpty Dumpty CD no. 34 昨年よりもしっかりと夏の課題ができました。ご協力ありがとう ございました。
2 年生は、2 学期、食べ物についてたくさん勉強します。初めに スパゲッティ、シリアル、アイスクリームなどの料理の名前を学習 し、食べ物カルタをしました。現在は、材料や料理をするときに使 う道具や、料理に関する動詞を学習しています。この学習の集大 成として、英語の授業内でプロジェクトを行います。その詳細はま だ子どもたちには秘密です。
【Year 6】 今月の歌 My Aunt Came Back CD no. 26 ６年生は、一学期に引き続き過去形の学習を進めています。”ed”
がつく規則動詞、不規則動詞、”was”は過去を表す言葉、”is と was”の違いなどの学習をしています。音で慣れてから書く練習ま で行います。
今月の語句は、oi と oy の違いです。一学期と同様に単語のテ ストでは、Reading（文字と絵をつなげる）、listening（先生の発音し た単語と絵を合わせる）、writing（絵を見て単語を書く）という 3 つのテストを行います。新しい言葉がたくさん出てきます。音だけ を聞き、語彙を書けるようになってきています。
新しい歌をしっかりと家でも聞き、積極的にチャレンジしましょ う。歌を歌うことで自然と英語らしい音を身につけられます。

アフタースクール英語 1～2 年
夏休みが明け、久しぶりの アフタースクールでした。時 間になる前に待ちきれず教 室にやってきて準備を手つ だってくれる子どもがたく さんいます。楽しみにしてく れていることが分かりとて もうれしく思います。
今月は文化的な活動も行 います。｢タイダイ｣という染 め物をする予定です。2 学 期もよろしくお願いします。
アフタースクール英語 3～6 年
7 月に実施した JET テストでは、全員が合格することができました。子どもたちは合格の賞状を受け取り、とてもうれ しそうでした。結果の書かれたシートを見て、自分の弱いところを分析している子もいました。今回の結果を受けて、次 の目標が明確になり、子どもたちのモチベーションが上がったように感じます。
文化的な活動では、｢タイダイ｣という染め物をします。どんな模様ができるかは、染めてからのお楽しみです。
１０月４日（火）と５日（水）で作業をしますので、汚れても良い服を持ってきて下さい。

1st graders started learning about word families to bring us to the idea of rhymes. We are having fun learning about the rhyming words.
2nd graders are learning about asking good questions. The students love asking questions. Now they have to remember to add a question mark at the end of their questions when writing questions. The students are enjoying competing with each other in a friendly manner.
3rd graders just finished asking questions to a person at home. Now they are working on questions for senior high students.
They will soon go eat lunch and interview a senior school student, making notes of that student’s answers. This will be a fun day.
4th graders are learning about insects. We have also reviewed the idea of more exact nouns as well as plural nouns. Next we will discuss adjectives to describe insects and what better way than to look at some insects! Students will be reading the book “Magic School Bus: Insect Invaders” as a novel study this term.
The topic for all students in 5th grade second term is biography. At this point all students have selected a person that they want to know more about. Currently, as homework, they are taking notes on that person from the book they checked out of the library. In class we have reviewed simple, compound and complex sentences as well as comma placement.
After reviewing essay structure, the 6th graders were all together for 2 lessons. After being split into two groups, one group talked about themselves on topics that interested them: hobbies, books, and personal history for example. The second group took notes on what was said. On the second day, the roles were reversed and now all students are writing an essay based upon what they heard the other group talking about.
Parents, all students need to complete half of their assigned MobyMax time by Oct. 20th. This means that 1st grade needs to complete 75 minutes and all other 150 minutes in the designated areas. Students who do not meet this goal will miss
International English Club
In the two club meetings we’ve had this term we had two guest teachers join us. We talked about our summer vacations, played a game similar to “Snakes and Ladders” and read a couple of books. As you may have heard, our new song is Black Socks.
New Students and English Luncheon
This term six students have joined the International classes. We had a luncheon on Sept. 16th to allow those students to introduce themselves to all the other students. These new students have joined the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades. Welcome!
At our luncheon that day we also presented awards to all the students who earned one last term. The awards were for reading every weekend (and writing it down), earning 9 or better on all spelling tests, completing homework on time and going above and beyond the required time on MobyMax. Congratulations to all who earned one. Everyone has a chance this
