Digital Transformation, ESG,

Grand Walkerhill Seoul & Virtual Meeting

To understand the importance of international cooperation and to address the challenges regarding talent development that the world is now facing

As globalization has rapidly changed our lives, the boundaries between countries have disappeared and the movement of human resources from one country to another has become commonplace. Accordingly, governments, international organizations, companies, and individuals are required to be globally competitive.

The reason global competitiveness of human resources is a key issue is that now everyone, and not just a small number of elites in specialized fields, must compete against one another in order to survive in the world. Because human resources are the foundation where the prosperity of individuals, businesses, society, and the world is built upon, the governments, businesses, and educational institutions must join efforts to improve the education, training, and utilization of human resources.

In response, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea, The Korea Economic Daily, and Korea Research

Institute for Vocational Education & Training recognized the needs for international cooperation and collaboration,

and thus initiated the Global HR Forum in collaboration with the private sector in 2006.

(3)

Brand Identity

The brand identity for the Global HR Forum represents

the shape of human resource by adding vivid and strong

colors and dynamic movement to the bold diagonal

lines. It symbolizes and implies the will of Global HR

Forum to be established as an international forum and

to present dynamic development and future by

harmonizing various talents and human resources

from all walks of life around the world.

WELCOME MESSAGE

Dear distinguished guests,

The Global HR Forum, jointly launched by The Korea Economic Daily, the Ministry of Education, and the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education & Training in 2006, celebrates its 16th anniversary this year.

The theme of the Global HR Forum 2021, scheduled to be held from November 10 to 11 at Grand Walkerhill Seoul and livestreamed online, is "Digital Transformation, ESG, and Sustainable Future."

The spread of COVID-19 has turned our lives upside down. As non-face-to-face activities, such as online classes and video conferences, have become new social norms, digital transformation has further accelerated. New digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and the internet of things (IoT), have already permeated each and every corner of our lives. With climate change and the consequential natural disasters swiping the globe, concerns over a sustainable future loom large. To address such challenges, global enterprises are putting efforts into environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) management by reducing carbon emissions and increasing social investment.

This year, the theme of the Global HR Forum 2021 is ‘Digital Transformation, ESG, and a Sustainable Future,’ which aims to discuss global mega trends mentioned above and search for ways to foster talent who can put such trends into practice. We are confident that this forum will serve as a platform where we can enhance the zeitgeist of ESG, as a solution to promote sustainable growth and address climate change.

During this forum, global leaders, including high-ranking government officials from a large array of countries, representatives of international organizations, CEOs of global enterprises, renowned scholars of prestigious universities, and experts from academia, will gather to hold in-depth discussions over action plans for ESG promotion, future education in the era of digital transformation, and solidarity among government, companies, and individuals.

We would like to welcome all the attendees to Global HR Forum 2021 and look forward to your continuous interest and support.

GLOBAL HR FORUM 2021

Digital Transformation, ESG, and Sustainable Future

The COVID-19 outbreak serves as a reminder that people everywhere are equally at risk in the face of a deadly virus and that nature, humans, countries, society, and businesses are interconnected and affect one another. The experience has also served as a warning that climate change and environmental pollution could trigger yet another pandemic, and that such global disasters can only be resolved through solidarity and cooperation among countries, businesses, and individuals.

Meanwhile, digital transformation has accelerated in all industries, and environmental, social, and governance

(ESG) management has become a hot topic. Now is the time for us to apply these lessons and change the paradigm

for cultivating people’s talents in the interest of sustainable growth and humanity’s wellbeing. This year’s Global

HR Forum will seek answers to the question of how humanity may realize a sustainable society. The participants will

discuss the raging virus, climate change and other environmental issues; the accelerating digital transformation; and

the spread of ESG management.
