Summary
There is the need to analyze in-school career education (curricular and extra-curricular) in response to the national curriculum reforms planned in 2022, and to recommend reform direction and key contents of careers curriculum in elementary, middle, and high schools, and policy objectives for reform. Analyzed the demands in careers curriculum improvement, reorganization direction and means for in-school careers curriculum, and operational enhancement of in-school career education programs based on student and parent interviews and career counselors as well as policy and academic expert focus group interviews and surveys.

◦ Significance and status analysis of Korea‘s 2015 national curriculum and careers curriculum in elementary, middle, and high schools (curricular and extra-curricular)
◦ Observations on the 2022 national curriculum reform and operational case study of school curriculums and career education programs in the U.K., Australia, the U.S., and Finland
◦ Survey and analysis of opinions and demands for careers curriculum reform direction and measures from career counselors as well as policy and academia experts

2. Improvement Measures for In-school Careers Curriculum
◦ Recommended curricular improvements such as including career education context within
“Practicals” for elementary school, creating and reinforcing a chapter on careers, enhancing the contents in “Careers and Jobs“ for middle and high schools, organizing third-year middle school curriculum, and organizing first-year high school general elective courses.
◦ Suggested amended sample plan for career activities in extra-curricular creative experimental activities, which include directional clarification of scope, instructional clarification, and specification of scope by school and grade levels
◦ Recommendations for operations internalization of in-school careers curriculum and quality enhancement include reinforcing career education staff competency at national, local, and school levels, and developing career education support system and resources to suit future changes
