The generation of the genre (according to Shergova's terminology) of cinema about nature, which has developed over the last decade, is not reflected in the literature of art history. Another problem is the mismanagement of irrigation projects, which has caused the level of the Aral Sea to drop to the point of its disappearance.
The shrinking of the Aral Sea has permanently changed the climate in the area, rendering millions of hectares of land unusable. A striking example is the dense smog covering large megacities such as: Astana, Almaty, Semipalatinsk, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Karaganda and other cities. All these local environmental events have their own history and should be presented to the world through the prism of eco-documentary films.
Through cinema, people express their emotions, deepest secrets and desires. Cinema is able to respond to the audience's questions and at the same time shape an individual's outlook and consciousness. In this respect, cinema offers the opportunity to look at the above-mentioned problems of people from the side, to assess the damage and to provide a forecast of the inevitable damage.
NATURAL AND MAN-MADE DISASTERS REFLECTED
The stated objectives were achieved by using comprehensive research methods: theoretical analysis, visual analysis, SWOT analysis, comparison and juxtaposition, film analysis, historical film analysis, analysis and synthesis, abstraction, classification and categorization.

Concern about the problems of the environment arises as a reaction to the alienation of man from the world, nature, himself, which is an essential feature of our civilization. The purpose of the article is to analyze a number of works of contemporary art in Kazakhstan to identify the characteristic trends of modernity in the artistic interpretation of natural heritage and, more broadly, to reveal the ontological laws of the art process of today's realities.
