THE STUDY AND ANALYSIS OF THE FORMATION OF INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATER OF TITANIUM-MAGNESIUM PRODUCTION
The problem of preservation of water sources and water consumption became one of the major ecological tasks. The system of management in CIS countries, namely Kazakhstan, didn’t encourage development of works in industrial wastes purification system that is why water basins have been gradually filled with all kinds of impurities.
As the result wastes poisoned not only surface, but also undersurface waters.
That is why consumable water supply became a problem in all regions of the country.
The object of this research is industrial wastes of UKTMP JSC, Ust- Kamenogorsk, East-Kazakhstan region.
The theme actuality. Ust-Kamenogorsk Titanium and Magnesium Plant is the only manufacturer of titanium sponge, titanium ingots and slabs in Kazakhstan.
Titanium concentrates subjected to ore-thermal melting and further chlorinating in chloride pool of alkali metals (natrium, kalium, magnesium) with production of titanium tetrachloride are used as a raw material. After that titanium tetrachloride is reduced by magnesium with production of titanium sponge. Magnesium is obtained from carnallite MgCl2·KCl·6H20 by electrolytic method. Chlorine obtained during electrolysis process is transferred for production of titanium.
Crude magnesium is sent for refining and production of magnesium, used for reduction of titanium tetrachloride. Production of titanium ingots and alloys involves weighing and blending unit, compacting press, electrode assembling unit, VAR furnaces, crucible cleaning unit, machining of ingots.
Analysis of negative effect of titanium and magnesium production on the environment showed that the main source of ecological load of the company is industrial wastes with complicated chemical composition.
Due to tough ecological requirements for industrial wastes, demineralization and disposal of solid wastes becomes a very popular problem.
The goal of the work to decrease negative effect of industrial wastes on soil, ground and surface waters of the territory adjoining to UKTMP JSC by means of technological method of reduction of solid wastes and their disposal in liquid form.
In order to achieve this goal, the following aims have been solved:
- to make analysis of formation of industrial wastes and technology of their neutralization;
- to obtain mineral contaminations in solid form which is convenient for disposal, transportation and dumping using centrifugation method and evaporation of industrial wastes in vacuum under low temperature;
- to define possibility of using sludge as technogenic raw material for production of technical products and construction materials while studying composition and properties;
The research objects. Wastewater and waste water sewage of titanium- magnesium production by the example of UKTMP JSC Ust-Kamenogorsk.
Scientific novelty of the work. To study of the temperature effect on the process of neutralization of wastewater, based on thermodynamics process.
