Governing Sustainability in Urban Ecosystems

Arguments for a Transdisciplinary Framework

Professor Gerardo del Cerro Santamaría

Keywords

Introduction: Planetary Urbanization?

Conclusions: Strategy, Holism and Transdisciplinarity

The global problems of sustainable development consist not only of some of the environmental problems (commonly known as climate change and loss of biodiversity), but also of socio-economic issues, regardless of precise "sustainability". This contrasts with the nature of the behavior of sustainable development systems, which is non-linear and holistic.

Current consideration of sustainable development in literature and media is essentially reductionist and involves a largely binary mindset. A new vision that promotes sustainable principles requires a rethinking of human values and a reconsideration of the integration between them. the flow of perception, experience and consciousness.

But all seek to improve the quality of life by pursuing different goals in accordance with the conditions and priorities of their city.

Passive energy saving of residential building envelop in Dhaka, Bangladesh: A research on alternative of brick in frame structure

Sabrina Rahman 1, Ishtiaque Ahmad 2

Introduction

The building envelope is the fundamental interface between indoors and outdoors and plays an important role in limiting variations in outdoor weather conditions, providing thermal comfort to building occupants. However, to obtain good thermal comfort, the rest of the world is trying to use green building materials instead of brick. It is clear that brick has a higher thermal effect than green building materials.

Since temperature is one of the main weather variables affecting thermal comfort, the thermal performance of bricks and brick alternatives was evaluated only on the basis of experiments. There is the possibility of process defects in the proper making of green building materials such as thermal block and aerated concrete.
