With due respect, the above matter is referred. The Academy of SciencesMalaysia (ASM) is pleased
to announce the establishment of the YoungScientists Network-Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-
ASM).

2. The formation of YSN-ASM will mark Malaysia's membership in the Global Young Academy (GYA) under the InterAcademy Panel (lAP) which is a worldwide organisation for young scientists to network and get their voices heard.
3. YSN-ASM is established to provide a solid platform for outstanding young Malaysian scientists from diverse scientific background and expertise to interact, coordinate, organize and rise to national and international chatfenges. It will also be a platform for these young scientists to collaborate among themselves to enhance the standard of the country's science, technology and innovation. It is hoped that YSN-ASM will also foster greater working relationship between the young and senior scientists .to ensure the sustainability of the nation's scientific community. YSN-ASM will also be a source of inspiration for future scientists currently training in high schools and universities.
This is important to ensure the continuous expansion of the nation's scientific capacity.
4. Therefore, ASM is inviting nominations of outstanding young Malaysian scientists less than (~) 40 years of age among young researchers from all Institutions of Higher Learning (Public &
Private) and Research Institutes in Malaysia to be members of VSN-ASM. All nominations will be subjected to screening by the Selection Committee. For information, there will be an inaugural colloquium to mark the launch of YSN-ASMbythe end of 2012.
5. All nominees must complete the attached application form by providing all required information and submit it with a curriculum vitae and publication list. A detailed letter of recommendation by the applicant's head of department/faculty, director, academic advisor/research supervisor or internationally renowned scientist who knows the applicant is also required to be submitted. All relevant supporting documents pertaining to the qualifications and achievements includtng endorsement from respective institution must be provided as well. The nominee is required to submit 1 hardcopy and 1 CD with a softcopy of the application form, curriculum vitae, list of publications and all relevant attachments to:
