4 th NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON LABORATORY ANIMAL SCIENCE
1
stAnnouncement Introduction
The main focus for 4th National Conference on Laboratory Animal Science is on the use laboratory animals as tools for translational research. Translational research is an innovative way of thinking about and conducting scientific research with the aim to apply the findings into medical practice and, thus, meaningful health outcomes. To flourish translational research, it requires knowledge-driven scientists to generate, contribute, manage and analyse data available from all their experiments. The goal is to achieve a continuous feedback loop to accelerate the translation of data into knowledge. Collaboration, data sharing, data integration and standards are integral.
In keeping with this progress and to disseminate the latest information in various disciplines of laboratory animal science, we are proud to offer you a two-day conference which will be held from 11-12 July 2012. Many international presenters, who are experts in various fields of Laboratory Animal Science will be invited to share their precious up-to-date research findings in the conference.
Topics that will be covered include management practices, post-mortems, proteomics and metabolomics for personalised medicine, as well as other relevant translational research.
Who should attend
Veterinarians, lecturers, graduate students, research assistants, research officers, science officers, assistant science officers, laboratory technicians and all those involved in animal studies.
Pre-Conference Workshop
The use of in vivo imaging in research has increase tremendously, replacing traditional survival based endpoints, especially in studies relating to oncology and drug delivery. Newer technologies and better imaging system have led to the use of fewer animals as well as enabling researchers to obtain faster measures of efficacy of the drug or treatment. There are various imaging modalities available in the market which addresses specific areas of imaging as well as mode of obtaining the image. Thus the objective of the two day pre-conference workshop, from 9 - 10 July 2012, is to highlight the various types and uses of the imaging system available worldwide.
