- Summary of literature review
Designing the composite floor deck with shear nails and openings for this project will be done with several factors in mind. In this project, shear headed studs are used as shear fasteners for the composite floor deck. The shear studs will be designed in SOLIDOWRKS and analyzed in ANSYS software and applied to the composite floor bed system.
The openings will be designed on the composite floor deck with reference to the actual design in the construction industry.
METHODOLOGY
- Modelling of composite floor deck by using SOLIDWORKS
- Analysis on the model of composite floor deck in the ANSYS software
- Project flow chart
For this project, the analysis of the composite floor bed will be done using ANSYS software. Once the geometry has been imported into the ANSYS software, the next step is to enter the materials to be used for the composite floor. After completing the selection of materials, the next step is to prepare the composite floor deck for analysis purposes.
For the first parameters, it is the connection of the composite floor covering materials which are the concrete floor slab, metal deck and also the shear bolts. The connection is done individually for each of the components of the composite floor covering system. The inflation mesh is done on all the shear bolts of the composite floor deck.
The edge size engagement is also performed on all edges of the shear studs of the composite floor deck. After completing the meshing procedure, the next step is to put in the support for the composite decking system. For this project, the composite floor deck is secured to all edges of the composite floor deck.
In this project, the pressure of 1 MPa is applied to the center of the composite floor deck. The solutions are total deformation, maximum shear stress and also equivalent or total stress of the composite floor deck.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS
- Composite Floor Deck
Furthermore, for the composite floor deck with opening, Figure 4.2 below shows the result generated from ANSYS software for the composite floor deck with opening. In addition, for the composite floor deck with shear bolts, Figure 4.3 below shows the result generated from ANSYS software for the composite floor deck with shear bolts. Also, for the composite floor deck with shear bolts and opening, Figure 4.4 below shows the result generated from ANSYS software for the composite floor deck with shear bolts and opening.
There are three different graphs that will interpret the results on the total strain, maximum shear stress and also the equivalent stress of different composite floor slab designs. It can be observed that the composite floor slab with the opening has the largest total deformation value. This indicates that this composite floor panel with opening has the lowest strength among all four models.
Next, the second highest model is the composite floor deck followed by the composite floor deck with shear bolts and opening and the model that has the lowest total deformation is the composite floor deck with shear bolts. In this case, it can be concluded that the strength and endurance of the composite decking system is definitely increased when the shear bolts are present and will decrease if there is opening on the composite decking system. It can be observed that the composite floor deck with opening has the highest value of maximum shear stress.
Next, the next highest model is the composite floor deck, followed by the composite floor deck with shear bolts and opening, and the model with the lowest maximum shear stress is the composite floor deck with shear rivets. The higher the maximum shear stress, the higher the force and pressure the composite floor covering system must withstand.
Total Deformation
It can be noted that if the composite floor system requires openings for construction, the presence of shear pins is important to ensure that the composite floor system has high strength and high durability to avoid any failure or damage to the floor. construction in the future. It can be observed that the composite floor deck with span has the highest value of equivalent stress. Then, the second highest model is the composite floor deck followed by the composite floor deck with shear nails and openings and the model having the lowest equivalent stress is the composite floor deck with shear nails.
The higher the equivalent stress, the higher the force and pressure the composite floor covering system must withstand. For equivalent stress, it indicates the total load applied to all models of composite floor decking systems.
Maximum Shear Stress
Composite floor deck with opening
In this part of the result and discussion, the writer will explain and interpret the results of the ANSYS software for various variables of the gap composite floor deck. As stated in the report, the main composite floor deck has a gap measuring 120mm x 120mm and the location of the gap is at the edge of the deck. To study and analyze more details, the project scope is broadened and the composite floor deck with gaps has two different other variables analyzed.
The first is the composite floor deck that has an opening whose dimension is 200 mm x 200 mm, and the second is the composite floor deck that has an opening in the middle of the deck. Both of these variables will be compared to the main composite floor with opening as shown in Figure 4.2 above. The comparison will be on three different analyses, which are the total deformation, maximum shear stress and also the equivalent stress of the composite floor deck system.
Equivalent Stress
Composite floor deck with shear studs
Both of these variables will be compared to the primary composite floor deck with shear bolts as shown in FIGURE 4.3 above. First, for the composite floor deck with ten shear bolts, Figure 4.13 below shows the result generated from ANSYS software for the composite floor deck with ten shear bolts. Composite Floor Deck with Different Arrangement of Shear Studs Total Deformation Maximum Shear Stress Equivalent Stress.
The comparison will be divided into two different parts, the first will be a comparison between the main composite floor slab with shear studs and the composite. It can be observed that between the main composite floor slab with shear studs and the composite floor slab with ten shear studs, the total deformation is larger in the main composite floor slab with shear studs. It can be concluded that the number of shear studs affects the strength and durability of the composite floor slab.
The greater the number of shear pins, the higher the strength and durability of the composite floor deck. It can be concluded that the arrangement of shear studs affects the strength and durability of the composite floor deck. It can be observed that between the main deck of the shear nailed floor composite and the ten shear nailed composite floor deck, the maximum shear stress is higher in the main deck of the shear nailed floor composite.
Then, it can be observed that between the main composite floor slab with shear studs and the composite floor slab with different arrangement of shear studs, the maximum shear stress is greater in the main composite floor slab with shear studs. It can be observed that between the main composite floor slab with shear studs and the composite floor slab with ten shear studs, the equivalent stress is greater on the main composite floor slab with shear studs.
CONCLUSION AND RECCOMENDATION
- Conclusion
- Recommendation
Provide multiple parameter variables for shear studs and openings on composite floor slab systems. A composite decking system should include a reinforcing bar to achieve greater strength and durability. ANSYS software results can be modified by including deformations, damage and also linearized stresses from the solutions.
In conclusion, the author of this project has prepared a project report that is effective, but it can be improved by future researchers by including the recommendations in future study.
