“Configuring an Operational Flood Forecasting System based on the Tank Model”

Data for developing a flood forecasting model (To be submitted in digital form by 7 April 2010)

Note:

(1) Each participant must prepare the following data for an excise.

(2) These data must be sent as the “Microsoft Excel” file by E-mail to [email protected], [email protected] and Cc to [email protected]

(3) If you need the electronic data of the data format for an exercise, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Asmadi: [email protected] my and Cc to [email protected].

Request:

(1) Please send the “Excel File” of these data to Mr Asmadi: [email protected] and Cc to [email protected] by 7 April 2010.

(2) It is strongly requested to bring the data recorded on FD, CD or other media to Malaysia.

(3) If there are some needs for modification, we will inform and request you (by email) to modify.

(4) Please bring the “Map of the selected basin and river system (if possible colour)”.

1. Time series data of Discharge* (necessary)

Please prepare the continuous time series data of discharge as follow.

1) Time Interval: 1 hour to 24-hour

2) Duration: 6 years for model calibration, 2 years for model validation 3) Number of Floods: at least 2 Floods

*It is better to choose observation point of which basin is not so large.

The format of time series data of Discharge is shown as Table1.

3. Data of Eavporation (necessary)

Please prepare the Time series data of Evaporation at Pan Evaporation Observatory in the above catchments area containing an above observation point as follow.

1) Time Interval: 1 hour to 24-hour

2) Duration: 6 years for model calibration, 2 years for model validation The format of time series data of Eavporation is shown as Table3.

Note:

If the observed evaporation data are not availble for the above excise catchment, please provide the data of long-term averaged value of monthly evaporation for each month in a year

4. Information data of the target area

(1) Catchments area (km2) of each observation point (necessary) (2) Elevation of discharge observation point (m) (if possible) (3) The highest elevation (m) (if possible)

(4) Average of gradient (°) of Catchments area (if possible)
