IEM-ILSAS Collaboration on Course Development and D e l i v e ry

T

he Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) via its Oil, Gas and Mining Technical Division (OGMTD) has forged a collaboration with TNB Training Institute-ILSAS (Institute Latihan Sultan A h m a d Shah) to deliver ten (10) courses in the calendar year 2007. Each course will be two (2) days in duration.

The collaboration endeavours to leverage on the strength of both IEM and ILSAS, and their Tr a i n i n g Collaboration Partners (TCPs) whilst achieving a win-win situation for those involved in the training development and delivery including c u r rent and future participants.

Within the framework and operations based on ILSAS’s training development and delivery IEM and ILSAS will conduct the following c o u r s e s :

1. Courses based on envisaged industrial needs;

2. Courses’ evaluation that may i n c l u d e :

a . Evaluation Level 1 (course and t r a i n e r ) ;

b . Evaluation Level 2 (pre-test and post-test); and

c . Evaluation Level 3 ( I m p rovement Behaviour on the Job)

The first launching of the courses took place on 15-16 January 2007 at ILSAS, Bangi Selangor Darul Ehsan with a t wo-day course titled Welding Process and Equipment.

The TCP then was the We l d i n g Institute of Malaysia (WIM) supported by The Welding Institute [TWI South East Asia (SEA)]. The Chairman of OGMTD, Engr. A b d . Razak bin Abu Hurairah and the General Manager of ILSAS, Puan Hajjah Khalidah binti H aro n welcomed the participant s and d e l i v e red brief addresses.

T h e re were seventy five percent (75%) re g i s t e re d participants comprising those from Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), TNB and other related engineering fraternity such as consultancy, c o n s t ruction, lifting equipment, and oil and gas . The venue of the remaining planned courses is envisaged to be at Training Institute-ILSAS (Institute Latihan Sultan A h m a d S h a h ) .

In the Welding Process and Equipment course, the participants were exposed to the relevant aspects as follows:

2. Practical Works (see enclosed pictures)

After the course, each participant was issued Certificate of Attendance with sixteen (16) Continuing Pro f e s s i o n a l Development (CPD) hours.

It was made to understand that this was the first IEM- ILSAS Collaboration in training development and delivery, and both parties looks forward to more relevant and positive collaboration in other areas that could benefit the nation and i n d u s t r y.
