KUALITI ALAM LAUNCHES MALAYSIA’S FIRST NON-INCINERATION CLINICAL WASTE TREATMENT CENTRE
SEREMBAN, November 24, 2014 – Kualiti Alam Sdn Bhd, the leader in integrated environmental solutions, launched Malaysia’s first non-incineration Clinical Waste Treatment Centre (CWTC) today. This will serve to document the company’s commitment to champion the development of a technology-excellence and environmental accomplishment in waste management industry.
The Centre is equipped with the cutting edge technology in medical waste disposal, Microwave Ecosteryl. This revolutionary innovative medical waste treatment facility offers an eco-friendly process that uses minimal electricity while provides a safe and environmentally friendly solution to bio-medical and clinical-related industry players.
The Centre was launched by HRH Princess Astrid of Belgium, Representative of His Majesty the King in the presence of Dato’ Seri Ismail Shahudin, Chairman of Cenviro;
Khalid Bahsoon, Chief Executive Officer of Cenviro; HE Didier Reynders, Federal Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs; HE Pieter De Crem, Federal Secretary of State for Foreign Trade; and HE Daniel Dargent, Ambassador of Belgium to Malaysia.
The Microwave Ecosteryl is manufactured by AMB-Ecosteryl, a specialist in the commercial treatment of medical waste without combustion. The partnership between Kualiti Alam and AMB-Ecosteryl is part of a strategic initiative to grow the waste management industry and economic opportunities in the country and across the region.

“We are honoured to be entrusted by the Department of Environment to carry out and manage this facility, as well as our appointment by AMB-Ecosteryl as the distributor for this revolutionary technology to the region, including Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Brunei,” said Khalid Bahsoon.
“It is a zero emission technology, no harmful effects, no water, no steam, no odour, no burning or smoke, and is capable to process up to 300 kilogramme per hour. The residue from the process is inert and landfill ready. We hope to revolutionarise medical waste treatment in Malaysia and will introduce more microwave units by year end 2014,” he added.
The Clinical Waste Treatment Centre is a new facility in Kualiti Alam Waste Management Centre (WMC), in addition to its five (5) main facilities that include Incineration Plant, Physical Chemical Treatment Plant, Solidification, and Secured Landfill. All facilities are designed and managed to meet stringent international standards. These facilities have the capacity to store, treat and dispose more than 100,000 tones of all classes of hazardous wastes annually.
Kualiti Alam WMC is the first integrated waste management centre which commenced its operations in 1998 to provide complete management of hazardous waste from
‘cradle to grave’ concept. This includes collection of waste at the premises of waste generators, transportation, treatment, recycling and recovery, to final disposal. The WMC is licensed to handle 76 categories of 77 scheduled waste listed under Environmental Quality (Scheduled Wastes) Regulations 2005, except for radioactive and explosive wastes.
