KOTA KINABALU WETLAND RAMSAR SITE - OPERATING AS USUAL
KOTA KINABALU WETLAND RAMSAR SITE (KKWRS) is a 24- hectare mangrove conservation area, which is strategically located at the heart of Kota Kinabalu City, (a 15-minutes’ drive from Kota Kinabalu International Airport and 5-minutes’ drive from Kota Kinabalu City).
KKWRS is open daily, even during Public Holiday (except on Monday), from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm. Unbeknown to the locals of its presence in its initial years, things slowly changed and in time, visitors started to trickle in and were pleasantly surprised to know that they have a real mangrove forest so close to the heart of the city.
A piece of nature heaven has quietly been preserved that stays unabated in the waves of frenzied development around the city.
Come and visit us today!

They eat small crabs, insects and any microorganisms that could fit in their mouth.
By having a special shape pelvic fins, they can jump up to 2 feet in the air and climb on multiple structures. Mud skippers are territorial animals, they will fabricate low, wall-like edges to mark their territory.

INTERESTING FACT ABOUT MUD SKIPPER
Commonly can be found on mudflats, pat swamps and mangrove area. In Sabah, this type of mud skipper can grow up to 10 cm and can survive up to 5 years.
They can survive during low tide, thus they are commonly seen on land rather than on the
water. Mud skippers breathe using their mouth and gill chamber.
