It will therefore be a great advantage for any foreigner visiting or staying in another country to know just a little bit of the local language. The Android platform is chosen for the development of the application and coding with Java and Eclipse was used. With this implemented in the application, the results of the user acceptance test showed that with the mobile application, an increase in the competence of the users.
Moreover, visitors to the country do not feel involved in the country they visit because they miss the language (Vis, KM, 2012). These mobile language applications contain only basic translations of a combination of phrases and sentences of the language. Moreover, according to the previous users of the applications, important features are still missing.
In addition, an Android platform was chosen because of the open-source nature of the software development kit and the large number of users on the market. Several language learning mobile applications are now widely available in the Android market.
Significant of the Project
As Arguelles recommends, to be able to be immersed in a language is to live and practice it in motion. This project focuses on the development of a mobile application that will guide the user in learning a language with the use of multi-sensory techniques and thus better engage the user for a quick and easy learning. With this app, convenience and immersion can be practiced to help the users to talk to the locals in no time and thereby engage.

However, the experience will never be complete until you know the history of the country and a little about the local language. Knowing the language, street signs, restaurant menus and communication with locals will no longer be a problem. Three of the existing Bahasa-Melayu English mobile apps will be mentioned and reviewed here.
-Lingo Malay uses the method that immerses the user in the sights and sounds of the Malay language, rather than just the written word. Most of the user review comments on Google Play say that the application is good and easy to use. This method was chosen because of the rapid prototyping nature, where development of the application could take place at an early stage, and the needs and expectations of the users could be met in the development phase.
The RAD method has the advantage of increased development speed, as developers can quickly deliver parts of the application to users. Based on user feedback, re-analysis, re-design and re-development of the second prototype will be carried out. Users will be provided with the system very quickly to interact with and will involve in the development of the system development process.
This phase is the initial development of the prototype to have a tangible view of the design. This is the final stage that involves the actual construction and installation of the application. This stage also covers the maintenance of the application and any further updates in the future.
Thus, a user acceptance test result and a summary assessment are required at the end of the process. YouTube is one of the sites that have been of great help in achieving this goal. The SDK Manager, which offered few examples, was also the source of some ideas in the development of the application.
It contains the sequence of drawings that represent the interface of the application with each of its functions and purposes. Using Eclipse it is easier to see the outcome of the layout.

The prototype also allows the user to chat with other users under the 'Chat' tab. This is the launcher that the user sees in the list of applications on the phone. A 'Continue' button is provided that leads to the main page with the application's features.
In the Browse tab, another sub-menu will appear which is basically grouping content based on country or subject. In the middle of the screen is the image of the corresponding sentences of the phrases. At the bottom of the screens is the image changer with phrases and audio.
The next page describes the detailed diagram of the actions and functions of that page in the application. The user can also click on any image in the image changer to display the corresponding phrase and sound. The second tab "Chat/Talk" is a feature in the application that lets users talk with other users of the same application.
The purpose of the user acceptance test was to see how effective the mobile application is in learning the language faster and easier. The first part of the user acceptance test was to see how effective the traditional learning is. The second part of the test, in which the same students participated, was conducted by letting the students use the mobile application for some time and then giving them a piece of paper with another set of questionnaires.
Based on this result, it shows that there is an increase of 15% in the learning of the participants. Although some of the participants had a lower score in the second part, the overall change is positive. We can conclude from this that the conversational skills of the participants have been improved effectively with the use of auditory and visual techniques and also with the interaction that the application contained.
However, since these data are not developed based on our own requirements, it is very difficult to find secondary data that exactly meets the needs of the current research. These tables are used to organize the translations corresponding to each picture and sound.
