VMS Silat group in beach clean-up

KOTA KlNABALU: A total of100 Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Silat Cekak Pusaka Hanafi (SPCH) exponents participated in the 'lMalaysia Green lMalaysia Clean Programme' at the Likas Bay Public Park recently.

According to the President of SCPH UMS, Mohd Syaffezh Edham Ahmed, the programme organised by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture in Sabah with SCPH is aimed at attracting the participation of young people in martial arts and to teach self-discipline.

"The participation of UMS volunteer students is a sign of the club's support in the organisation of the event that can benefit the youth," he said.

He said, 'My Silat My Fest 2015' will make history in the World Guinness Book of Records for the largest silat gathering and at the same time raise the name of Silat in the eyes of the world on par with taekwondo and karate.

"SCPH had created history in the Malaysia Book of Records for the largest category 9f performing silat and all-female silat performance in 2010," said Syaffezh.

The 'lMalaysia Green lMalaysia Clean' will feature an interesting itinerary including a Likas Bay area gotong royong clean-up and silat performance from SCPH fighters, Silat Seni Gayung Fatani and Silat Raja Pukulan Awang Daik.
