Professionalism is one of the common values emphasized by the government in ensuring customer satisfaction. Other shared values are integrity, kindness and caring, sense of urgency and ownership, teamwork and results orientation. Professionalism refers to the ability to promote impartiality, transparency and compliance with rules and regulations regardless of status, color and creed. In every decision-making, professionalism means putting the interest of the organization first before one's own interest. In today's complex society, professionalism is crucial and becomes a prerequisite especially among civil servants to ensure that they perform their duties and responsibilities professionally in tandem with clients. Expertise is related to other values such as competence, responsibility, meritocracy, consideration and firmness in problem solving and decision making. Expertise, one of STIDC's top priorities, is receiving serious attention. The Sarawak Forestry Department revealed that hectares were planted with Acacia mangium in the state in December. This accounted for 70% of the total 325,314 hectares of planted area in Sarawak. This achievement bodes well for the state government's desire to establish at least one million hectares of planted forests by 2020 with an emphasis on fast-growing tree species. Planted forests help alleviate pressure on natural forests and also provide a sustainable supply of raw materials for the local timber industry in Sarawak. Samling Housing Products Sendirian Berhad took advantage of the abundant supply of acacia raw materials. SHPSB) plays a leading role in the production of various products from acacia wood. The acacia business, which is relatively new in Sarawak, needs help from the government and big business to penetrate and compete in international markets. The government has taken various initiatives to increase the number of SMEs in this country.

SFIA is determined to demonstrate that with greater support from the government, it can and will continue to play a greater role in the overall development of the furniture industry and economy in Sarawak. This was evident from SFIA's initiative in proposing the establishment of a Furniture Park to the Ministry of Industrial Development for the benefit of the industry,” she said. In addition, there is a need for a permanent exhibition center in Sarawak to serve the needs of the local industry.

Various initiatives have been made by STIDC to support the state government's efforts to promote Tanjung Manis as the economic hub of the central region of Sarawak. Datu Haji Len Talif Salleh (9th right) with the winners of Tanjung Manis Fishing Safari 2014.

In line with this, STIDC had taken various initiatives to encourage staff to embrace the culture by establishing several Innovative and Creative Circles (ICC). In its quest for customer satisfaction, TIMEPIECE is running a "Longest Turnaround Time for Identified Wood Samples" project. The project dovetails well with STIDC's corporate vision "Leading the advancement of the wood industry" and one of its main functions to provide technical advisory services to the industry.

It also aligns with the goal of providing excellent services, including effectively responding to queries related to timber operations, such as the identification of timber samples. The project aims to improve the current delivery system while also providing educational resources for the public to increase knowledge about local timber species and their uses. Based on the data collected and analyzed, TIMEPIECE had determined that the main possible cause of the problem was due to the unsystematic storage of wood samples.

It is also equipped with a computer-aided search system called "SearchMe", a value-added system that includes references and information on the common use of the wood samples shown. In addition to presenting the organization's vision and client charter, the project also successfully improved the delivery system and created greater trust among stakeholders. Through this project, TIMEPIECE has successfully earned various awards including STIDC Board Award (STIDC Mini Convention 2012), MPC Gold Award - ICC Mini Convention 2013 (Sarawak Region), MPC Best Junior ICC Award - ICC Mini Convention 2013 (Sarawak Region ) and MPC Gold Award - Team Excellence (Sabah and Sarawak Region 2013).

The team had also participated in Sarawak State Civil Service ICC Convention - Central Region, ICC Convention - Sarawak State Civil Service and MPC National ICC Convention 2013. TIMEPIECE is progressing and was selected for Asia Pacific Quality Conference scheduled for November 2014 in Kuala Lumpur along with over 60 ICCs from six countries namely Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Philippines and Malaysia. Innovative and creative culture parallels the government's desire to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

The project aims to improve current delivery system besides providing learning tool for the public.
