Synopsis
Real-time polymerase chain reaction, also called as quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). It is a laboratory technique based on the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), which is used to amplify and simultaneously quantify a targeted DNA molecule. It enables both detection and quantification of a specific sequence in a DNA sample.
There are two common methods of quantification which included the use of fluorescent dyes that intercalate with double-stranded DNA, and modified DNA oligonucleotide probes that fluoresce when hybridized with a complementary DNA.
Frequently, real-time polymerase chain reaction is combined with reverse transcription to quantify messenger RNA (mRNA) in cells or tissues.
In molecular biology High Resolution Melt (HRM) analysis as it will be referred to herein is a hugely powerful technique for the detection of mutations, polymorphisms and epigenetic differences in double stranded DNA samples. It has advantages over other genotyping technologies.
Objective
This workshop aims to provide basic concepts of the gene expression workflow by using the real-time PCR as well as further understanding on the technology of High Resolution Melt (HRM).
Registration Fee
Each Participant RM 200 cash on the registration.
