SAFEGUARDING WORKSPACES: EMPOWERING FUTURES WITH THE OSH-C PROGRAM

From November 28 to December 2, 2023, the first group, consisting of 60 participants, comprising UMS students and other IPTA students, attended the 5-day OSH-C course through the PENJANA KPT PACE program. The grant provided under the PENJANA KPT - CAP (Career Advancement Programme) 2.0, falls under the Ministry of Higher Education. This grant is part of the government's efforts to assist graduates in enhancing their skills, finding employment, starting businesses, and ultimately contributing to the nation's efforts to improve the employability of graduates.
In total, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) received a grant of RM1,191,500 from the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) for the implementation of the Economic Recovery Plan (PENJANA) KPT-Professional Certificate (PACE) Phase 3 this year. Out of this amount, RM590,000 was allocated to the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Accounting (FPEP) UMS through an application made by the program coordinator at the faculty level, Dr. Siti Nor Bayaah Ahmad. The grant received is for the implementation of two courses: the 'Professional 360 Real Estate Advance Programme' (360 Reap) and the Occupational Safety and Health Coordinator Course (OSH-C), which will be attended by a total of 200 participants.
The successful execution of these professional courses is a collaboration between the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Accounting and the Director of the Student Career and Entrepreneurship Development Center (PKPKP) UMS, Associate Professor Dr.
Soon Singh Bikar Singh, with the cooperation of UMS Investment.
For the first group, the OSH-C course was successfully conducted by Utechtium Sdn.
Berhad, under the supervision of Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Asari Bin Sulaiman, serving as the Director of Utechtium Sdn. Bhd. Utechtium Sdn. Berhad has been appointed as the training provider to ensure the success of the five-day course.
This program is specially designed with the expertise of instructors and modules from Utechtium Sdn. Bhd. to professionally train participants. Modules included in the OSH Coordinator Training Program cover comprehensive knowledge of occupational safety and health (OSH) and skills to implement practices to prevent accidents and diseases in the workplace. With the professional certificates obtained by these 60 participants, they are better positioned to seize desired employment opportunities and enhance their employability in the industry.
