upcoming programme at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film School (BIFAN).
According to a statement released yesterday, the Film Directors Association of Malaysia said that the Sarawak-born filmmaker was the only Malaysian selected out of 35 participants from around the world for the mentoring-based programme.
In a recent Facebook entry, Lee said: "I accept this offer and promise to uphold the good name of Malaysia. I am very excited to receive the offer at Fantastic Film School, which specialises in the horror genre."
The 44-year-old director had previously won awards at the Asian Cinematography Awards in the Philippines and the Singapore World Film Carnival for his film, Belaban Hidup.
The horror film had also been shortlisted in the official selection and screening at the Russia International Horror Film Awards and the Macabo Mexico City International Horror Film Festival.
BIFAN is the world's first programme for horror film education and is run by the Network of Asian Fantastic Films (NAFF) in South Korea.

The 25th session of the programme is expected to take place from July 8 till 14, and will be conducted online due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
