The JCSC is located on a steep terrain where the bottom of the boundary ends in a lake. The place is blessed with healthy green foliage despite its location in the heart of the city. Turning from the main road, a long drive down a narrow lane leads to the entrance of the facility.
Even though the building is essentially a rectangular plan form aligned along the contours of the site, the mass of the building is conceived as if it were pavilions.
But the new home of the Johor Cultural and Sports Club (JCSC) tries to take advantage of these tropical conditions to celebrate the climate in a resort-like environment. At the intersection of the residential/recreational block and the business block, an extension will be dedicated to a tavern. The idea behind the tavern's trapezoidal shape emerged from studies of the Angkor chambers, which are then deformed into a more dynamic shape. Additionally, it also provides visual greenery to the higher vantage points of residential units – a unique selling point of the development.
It was therefore essential that the built environment be provided as a source of attractive views and amenity to enhance the marketing aspects of the adjacent residential properties. A simple but contemporary reinterpretation of the popular mosque, without losing the traditional motifs and symbolic architectural language of Islamic culture. The eastern side of the main prayer hall extends and connects to an additional open prayer hall area, which is semi-enclosed with natural ventilation.
The design of the toilets or washing areas with high quality tiles and sanitary fittings is a radical departure from the traditional dark and stuffy toilets. Main ablution: Ample ablution facilities are available adjacent to the open prayer hall on both sides for the convenience of the congregation. The large gergu composed of arabesque patterns at the entrance, the courtyard of the forecourt, the dome of the mosque is decorated.

The elevated building form allows spaces below to benefit from shade and natural breezes. You go 'into' the water at the lobby to reach the swimming and changing level below. The dialogue with nature through carefully orchestrated spaces makes it possible to appreciate the green panoramic view in a dramatic sequence.
