ABSTRACT

Many traditional technologies, such as refrigerators, TVs, washing machines, coolers, etc., have improved in the modern, globally interconnected world, while highways remain primarily unchanged.

Our "Smart Highway" project aims to make highways more energy-efficient, innovative, and safe. We are using vibration energy, for instance, to charge electric vehicles. However, when using this technique, travelling on roads produces a significant amount of energy in the form of vibration, which is completely lost. Additionally, cars will release greenhouse gases that weaken the ozone layer and contribute to global warming. Similarly, we tried using other kinds of energy on roadways using various methods such as wind, solar, and other green energies. However, it is way too costly because magnetic induction is already expensive. Aside from that, we used photo-Luminescent paint, which charges during the day and glows in the dark, to paint the road markings and, hopefully, can be used in place of streetlights. As a result, a highway change is required to utilise green energy.

INTRODUCTION

According to interestingengineering.com, at current consumption, we have an estimated 47 years of oil left to extract at current consumption. That equates to 1.65 trillion barrels of proven oil reserves in the region. Other sources raise this estimate slightly, but most agree we only have about 50 years left. As a result, to avoid this situation, brand-new renewable energy source generators for multiple applications (domestic, agronomic, and residential) should be regarded as distinguished dormant diagnoses to ensure global progress (globally). With the efforts and willingness of various sections of society to adopt a new paradigm for new energy generation products using renewable energy, the future, and potential of this green technology, Smart Highway, can subsidise a convincing continuity of energy contemporaries. In many financial aspects, Smart Highway can prevent pollution by using non-renewable energy resources today. Furthermore, Smart Highway has enormous marketing potential. This is due to the fact that it employs new renewable energy, such as vibration energy. We can benefit from this type of energy, so we must make radical changes in the concept of highways by harvesting green energy.

METHODOLOGY

This project has classified the system into three mechanisms; Wireless charging, roads, and Photo-Luminescent paint. Firstly, the Wireless charging mechanism

consists of a helical coil, spring, and magnet. Conversely, the Roads mechanism comprises cement, Coarse aggregate (gravel), fine aggregate (sand), and water.

Furthermore, the Photo-Luminescent paint mechanism consists of a binding resin and a pigment, which charges during the day through sunlight and then illuminates the tarmac for up to 10 hours overnight. We used photo-luminescent paint because it is the best substitute for streetlights and can save tremendous electricity. Vibration energy can be converted into electrical energy by using magnetic induction. For this purpose, we can make some specific lanes for charging electric cars through a magnetic field using induction coils inserted under the tarmac.

These induction priority lanes (Figure 1) are embedded with induction coils under the road surface and assess the electric vehicles when it runs on them. According to the Blog of Adamant Namiki Precision Jewel Co., Ltd., When a magnet is moved in and out of a metal coil or when a coil is spun between magnets, an electrical potential (voltage) is created. This phenomenon is known as electromagnetic induction. The voltage causes an electric current to flow, creating electric power. Power generation using a motor also uses the principle of electromagnetic induction. The magnitude of the electromotive force due to electromagnetic induction is proportional to the rate of change of magnetic flux (Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction). The current generated by electromagnetic induction flows in the direction that opposes a change in magnetic flux (Lenz’s law). A magnet attached to a spring is placed inside a coil. When the whole system vibrates, the magnet reciprocates in the coil, causing a change in magnetic flux. This creates a potential difference, thereby generating power.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

We discovered that our project could benefit both drivers and the environment. This is because magnetic induction can charge the driver's car by driving, which benefits the environment. After all, it does not affect the environment. Aside from that, photo- luminescent paint is advantageous because it is cost-effective, costs nothing to run this lighting, and does not require the purchase of batteries to make it glow. Without maintenance, the paint will continue to absorb and emit light for years. The paint, however, will glow for many hours after even brief exposure to light.

103 CONCLUSION

To sum it up, the Smart Highway can be beneficial in the future because the amount of petrol will decrease, and the number of regular vehicles will also decrease. In addition, the number of electric vehicles will increase.
