Human Rights Education I. Course Code: CHUMRIGHTS

II. Course Name: Human Rights Education

III. Course Description: This is a three (3) unit’s subject under criminal law and jurisprudence course which deals with to the body of laws, rules, procedures, and institution designed to respect, promote and protect the human rights at the regional, national and international level. This also includes victim’s welfare and rights of the accused and the standard and ethical procedures employed by the law enforcement agencies as an implementers of laws. It is also focused on the protection of human rights and dignity as declared under Universal Human Rights, Human Security Act and other related laws.

IV. Course Learning Outcomes:

CLO1: Explain the concepts of Human rights and victim welfare based on international level.

CLO2: Demonstrate competence and broad understanding in victim welfare and human rights and its effect to law enforcement administration, public safety, and criminal justice.

CLO3: Apply the Principles of and Jurisprudence of Criminal Law, evidence, and criminal procedure in respect with victim’s welfare.

CLO4: Ensure offender’s welfare and development based on different level of laws for their re-integration to the community.

CLO5: Collaborate effectively and independently in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams for victim’s welfare.

CLO6: Engage in lifelong learning and understanding of the need to keep abreast on the developments of human rights and victim’s welfare and its relationship in the field Criminology and Criminal Justice.

CLO7: Apply professional, social, and ethical standards in the practice of profession in relation to victim’s welfare and human rights.
