This study was conducted to determine the status of physical education of the coJ-1eges and universities in Angeles City, S.Y.2002-2003. This study attempted to answer the following queries:

1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms

of gender, dge, Iength of service, position and educat ional - qualif ication?

2. How often do the respondents conform to the

objectives of physical education?

3. What are the activities the respondents usually teach withi-n the program?

The study utiLized the descriptive method of research and the questionnaj-re as tire research lnstrument to attain its object-ives. The respondents of the study are physical education instructors from six colleges and

unj-versities in AngeJ.es City, namely: Angeles Uni','ersity Foundation, ltoly Angel University, Republic Central Col1eges, AMA Computer College,

College and STI Computer Co11ege.

Thirteen -or 54 -I1% of the respondents are and 11 or 45. 83%, females.

Two-thirds of the respondents (66.612) bachelor's degree holders with master's units.

3. The respondents conformed wiLh the objectives of physical education.

4. The acCJ-vities that the respondents usually teach were physical f j-tness j-n P. E. L, f olkdancing in P.E. 2, swimmj-ng in P.E. 3, and basketball and

volleyball 1n P.E. 4.

5. The schools' facilities, supplies, and equipment were considered "much adequate".

6. The actj-vities, which the respondents preferred to teach, were physical fitness in P. E. 2, swimming in P.E. 3 and basketball in P.E. 4.

1. The curricular activi-ties utilized most were related to physical fitness.

Conc]-usions

In the light of the findings of the study, the

following conclusions were drawn:

1. Majority. of the respondents are fit and

educationally qualified to teach physicai education.

2. The respondents abide by the objectives of

physi-ca1 education.

The activities that respondents engaged in within the program are also t.heir f ield of j_nterest.

The facilities, supplies and equipment of the respondents' colleges and universities in Angeles

City are adequate enough to implement the

program.

5. The respondents focused too much in teaching

physical fit.ness, aerobics and gymnastics, undermi-ning the new trends in p. E. I, whlch is teaching taebo/cardio-kickboxing and circuit traini-ng.

6. The respondents use physical fitness for evaluation.
