1. On August 26, 2015, Grade 9 students shall take the National Career Assessment Examination (NCAE). The NCAE is an assessment of students’ aptitudes and skills and estimates what field or discipline the student can excel in. The results of the NCAE will show the interest and career inclination of the student, whether it is technical-vocational, entrepreneurial, or academic course.

2. Relative to this, all Grade 9 students are expected to be in school as early as 6:30 am of the said date for necessary preparations before the actual test. Please be mindful of the instructions given to you during the orientation conducted by the guidance personnel. Groupings for the NCAE are now posted at the BHV gym bulletin board; spend some time checking for your group, correctness of information, etc. Please notify immediately the AP office for any correction.

3. Also in this view, Grades 7, 8, and 10 students will have no classes on August 26, 2015 as our classrooms will be used as testing rooms and most of our teachers will act as either proctors or advisers.

4. Letter to parents regarding these information shall be distributed today. Make sure your parents will receive this.

5. There will be no classes tomorrow in commemoration of the Ninoy Aquino Day. Have a restful long weekend!

6. Additional Mission Collection: LS 103, LS 405, LS 201, LS 203, LS 107 From the Christian Living Department

1. We would like to thank all the classes for your attendance in the Holy Mass. Let us continue to meet God in this highest form of public prayer. Here is the schedule of class Mass sponsors:

Grade August 20 August 24 Adviser

Grade 7 LS 207 Ms. Mae Bautista LS 208 Ms. Jelyn Ocampo Grade 8 LS 408 Mr. John Louie De La Cruz LS 409 Ms. Edith Africa Grade 9 LS 302 Ms. Ellen Camacho LS 303 Mr. Gerald Latayan Grade 10 BM 203 Ms. Heidi Matibag BM 204 Ms. Noemi Dimaunahan From the JHS MAPEH Department

1. Our school’s Intramurals for the students in the Junior High School is scheduled on September 7 – 11 for Grade 7 and Grade 10 and on September 14 to 18 for Grade 8 and Grade 9. This year’s theme is “DLSL: Building a Culture of Peace through Sports and Cultural Activities”.

2. The MAPEH department does not require the students to have uniform jersey in the Intramurals that is why we are not providing guidelines regarding uniform. If the class opted to have Intramurals jersey, preparations should be made per class in coordination with your respective homeroom advisers.

3. The submission of the name of the class representative for the Vocal Solo Singing Contest is extended until today (August 20). Regarding this, Grade 7 to 10 participants for the Vocal Solo Singing Contest will have a meeting with Ms.

Imee and Ms. Les on Monday (August 24), homeroom period at the BHV Gym.

4. All Grade 8 and Grade 9 classes are reminded to submit to Ms. Les Pernez at LSF21, the title of the song that you will use for the SAYAWIT and Broadway Musicale contests respectively.

Suggestions for LOVING GOD through our ACTIONS

1. God often calls us to love and serve him by bringing us into contact with the needs and sufferings of others. This is what happened to St. John Baptist who was moved with compassion by the ‘human and spiritual distress’ of the poor children of Rheims. Where do you encounter ‘human and spiritual distress’ of others today? At home? In school? In your neighborhood? In the wider society? Which of these needs do you feel God is calling you to address? Resolve to address this situation as effectively as you can according to your gifts and abilities. Offer your efforts to God for love of him.

(Valenzuela, Living the Lasallian Spirit)

(4)

5. Monitored preparations and practices for the Intramurals activities and contests by the MAPEH teachers will be done during MAPEH classes only. If the classes, in coordination with their homeroom advisers, opted to practice beyond class hours, the following provisions shall be observed:

• Up to 5pm (curfew time) – There is no need of parents’ waiver. Just inform the students ahead of time so that they can also inform their parents.

• Up to 6pm only (no more extension) – There is a need of parents’ waiver.

• In both cases, adviser’s presence is expected.

Practices during weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and during no class days are not allowed.

6. Students who will use the classroom during break time and beyond class hours for practices should secure a pass from the Grade Moderator. Getting of the pass should be done prior to the practice time and not while you are already using the classroom.

For Grade 9 Classes and Advisers

7. The submission of the financial plan to your respective MAPEH teachers is extended until Monday (August 24) because most of the classes are still discussing about it. However, classes who have finished the financial plan can now submit it to your MAPEH teachers. The financial plan should be discussed in class, prepared by the class president and noted by the homeroom adviser. Refer to the sample given to the homeroom advisers last Thursday (August 13) for the format of the financial plan.

8. In the preparation of the props for the Broadway Musicale Contest, please refer to the following:

• The size of the cork wall in the BHV Gym stage is 7 ½ meter (width) x 2 ½ meter (height)

• The size of the loose board that the MAPEH department will provide is 2.25 meter (width) and 1.95 meter (height).

9. Please inform Ms. Imee immediately if you want to avail of the used tarpaulin in making your props for the Broadway Musicale contest.

• At night or early morning

• During or after exercise

• During certain seasons

• After laughing or crying

• When exposed to common asthma triggers Asthma Treatment & Management

There is no cure for asthma, but symptoms can be controlled with effective asthma treatment and management. This involves taking your medications as directed and learning to avoid triggers that cause your asthma symptoms. Your allergist will prescribe the best medications for your condition and provide you with specific instructions for using them.

People with asthma are at risk of developing complications from respiratory infections such as influenza and pneumonia. That is why it is important for asthma sufferers, especially adults, to get vaccinated annually.

With proper treatment and an asthma management plan, you can minimize your symptoms and enjoy a better quality of life.
