GOD’S WORDS FOR TODAY (Jn 8:31-42) The Holy Gospel according to St. John

Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him, "If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." They answered him, "We are descendants of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How can you say, 'You will become free'?" Jesus answered them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. A slave does not remain in a household forever, but a son always remains. So if the Son frees you, then you will truly be free. I know that you are descendants of Abraham. But you are trying to kill me, because my word has no room among you. I tell you what I have seen in the Father's presence; then do what you have heard from the Father."

They answered and said to him, "Our father is Abraham." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would be doing the works of Abraham. But now you are trying to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God;

Abraham did not do this. You are doing the works of your father!" So they said to him, "We were not born of fornication. We have one Father, God." Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and am here; I did not come on my own, but he sent me."

Reflection:

The Lord Jesus sets us free from slavery to our own selfishness and sinful desires in order to set us free for a joy-filled life of love and service for his kingdom. Allow the Lord Jesus to unbind you and bring you healing, pardon, and freedom to walk in his way of love and truth. Are there any chains - any sinful patterns, harmful attitudes, and addictive behavior - that you need to be released from?

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, write your words of love and truth upon my heart and make me a diligent student and a worthy disciple of your word. Amen.

MISSION VISION

“To be a sign of faith as an excellent educational institution, sharing in the Lasallian mission of teaching minds, touching hearts and transforming lives.”

Time of Trials and Discouragement

Once in Rue Neuve, Saint de la Salle and his ten followers started the religious society. Everything they did – they did together. They called this the common life. Although they had no written rules, the pious and mortified life of the Saint served as a living rule to the young assistants. Many were not fit for this austere life. Many more there were who knew themselves called to this type of life. So many members were coming that Saint de la Salle found it necessary to establish a novitiate to train these young men in the practices of the religious life in 1684.

It was in this year 1684 that our Saint gave all his money to the poor that he might be poor in spirit-like his followers. Accordingly, on the feast of the Most Blessed Trinity on May 28, 1684, Saint de la Salle and tweleve brothers made their first solemn vow of obedience. With this vow, came the title “Brothers of the CHRISTIAN Schools” and received the religious habit which was practically the same as worn by the Brothers today.

FROM THE OVCAD – INSTITUTIONAL HEALTH SERVICES:

Cont… Hemophilia When to see a doctor

Prolonged bleeding after circumcision may be the first indication of hemophilia in a baby boy. In boys who aren't circumcised, easy bruising when the child becomes more mobile may lead to the diagnosis. The first episode of bleeding generally occurs by the time a child is 2 years old.

If your child bruises easily, see your doctor. If your child has heavy bleeding that can't be stopped after an injury, seek emergency medical care.

If you're pregnant or considering pregnancy, and have a family history of hemophilia, talk to your doctor. You may be referred to a specialist in medical genetics or bleeding disorders, who can help you determine if you are a carrier of hemophilia. If you are a carrier, it's possible to determine during pregnancy if the fetus is affected by hemophilia.
