THE HOLY GOSPEL (Mt. 7:21, 24-27) The Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew,
Jesus said to his disciples, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined.”
Reflections:
What kind of spiritual house are you building? Is it a house built on rock or sand? If we do not have strong faith to God, we are building a house on the sand. If we believe that God will never forsake us no matter what happens and trust with all our hearts, we are building a house on rock. Following the will of God means doing what He wants us to do. How to know what He wants us to is through sincere recollection and prayer. How is my prayer life nowadays, does God occupy a place in my life? Is He the priority or the least in the order of my priorities? Jesus said, not everyone who says Lord, Lord, will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in Heaven.
Prayer:
Let us pray…
May we discern Your Will Lord today and act upon it. Amen.
St. John Baptist De La Salle…Pray for us!
Live Jesus in our hearts…Forever!

What is the History and Significance of Advent Sunday and the Season?
Just as Lent acts as preparation for the upcoming Easter, Advent Sunday marks an important beginning of a period that triggers the festive mood for Christmas.
There is no certainty on when the celebration of Advent first started in the Christian church, although some sources have been widely cited as saying the tradition began on 11 November (St Martin's Day) sometime in the fifth century in the form of a six-week fast that ended on the Christmas day. It could have been sometime during the sixth century that Advent was reduced to its current length and as the traditions gradually evolved, fasting was no longer obligatory.

FROM THE OVCAD – INSTITUTIONAL HEALTH SERVICES:
Continuation… Ear, Nose, Throat Conscious Week Preventing Sore Throat
There are many causes of sore throat, including infections, acid reflux, sleep apnea or more severe and rare disorders, such as cancer. A very common cause of sore throat is a bacterial or viral infection, so practicing good hygiene, such as frequent hand washing, is a good way to prevent sore throat. Here are some other suggestions:
- Get plenty of rest and exercise to bolster your immune system.
- Avoid exposure to cigarette smoke.
- Do not spend long periods of time outside when the air quality in your area is poor.
3 Preventing Sleep Apnea
Sleep apnea is a condition where a person stops breathing for brief periods of time while asleep. It is very common in the United States and can be harmful if left untreated. Fortunately, there are many treatments available, and sleep apnea can often be cured. Here are some good ideas to prevent or keep sleep apnea at bay.
- Maintain a healthy body weight.
- Avoid alcohol or sedatives at bedtime.
- Identify and treat tonsillitis, nasal polyps or other disorders that can cause airway obstruction.
- Quit smoking.
Not all ENT disorders can be prevented. Many depend on inherited traits; however, following these suggestions may serve to keep you healthier in the future. Hand washing remains at the forefront of disease prevention, along with other isolation practices, including coughing in to your sleeve and staying at home while you are sick. These guidelines can also help strengthen your immune system, decreasing the likelihood of catching an illness and limiting the amount of time you spend sick.
