THE HOLY GOSPEL (Lk 5:12-16) Holy Gospel according to St. Luke,

Now there was a man full of leprosy in one of the towns where he was; and when he saw Jesus, he fell prostrate, pleaded with him, and said, “Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean.” Jesus stretched out his hands, touched him, and said, “I do will it. Be made clean.” And the leprosy left him immediately. Then he ordered him not to tell anyone, but “Go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses prescribed; that will be proof for them.” The report about him spread all the more, and great crowds assembled to listen to him and to be cured of their ailments, but he would withdraw to deserted places to pray.

Reflection

Today’s gospel depicts that Jesus was a busy man. With all the people who need healing including the lepers, the blind, the deaf and the dying, his schedule is always loaded; for he never rejected these people. But what is amazing with Jesus is after a very busy day, he never failed to ‘withdraw to a deserted place to pray’. He always finds time to pray to the Father even how tired He is, even how busy He is, even how preoccupied He is. Let’s look at ourselves. Do we spare a time after all our work and tasks to withdraw and PRAY and probably admit to ourselves that we cannot have achieved all our tasks the whole day without the power of God? Let this gospel remind us that even how great we have achieved in a day, God always waits for us to talk to him. Let us always pray.

Prayer

Lord, may we never let a day pass by without talking to you. Amen.

St. John Baptist De la Salle, pray for us.

Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
