2 CHAPTER 5 RECOMMENDATIONS

In conclusion, understanding the concepts of both leisure motivation and leisure needs of teachers for recreation and wellness may be highly beneficial, as this provides good possibilities for teachers to attain a balanced lifestyle and awareness of wellness and self-care in spite of the current global situation brought about by the pandemic. In fact, findings of this study revealed that analyzing the leisure motivation factors was an efficient determinant of the leisure needs of primary education teachers. Varying factors may contribute to teachers’ leisure experience depending on their reason for their leisure engagement. Despite the fact that the results of each motivation factor were not significantly different, the Leisure Motivation Scale (LMS) indicated that teachers continue to choose leisure activities that promote their continual learning, exploration, discovery, and creativity. Not to mention the need for skill development and competence. Calmness and relaxation, as well as making friends and connecting with people, are secondary to their motivation.

As teachers face varied roles in their profession and arduous task of keeping themselves abreast with advancement in professional development, understanding the importance and benefits of engaging in recreation and wellness programs helps them achieve balanced lifestyle. In an educational setting such as in a private institution in Mandaluyong, leisure activities are an assistive tool for teachers’ development and learning. The school-organized activities are associated mostly with leisure pursuits in the faculty development program.

As presented in the empirical studies used in this research, there are valuable opportunities and benefits in engaging in leisure and recreational activities such as:

According to Daly and Morton (2011), engagement in leisure activities may actually prevent burnout. Leisure interests have the potential to be recuperative due to their benefit to an individual's emotional well-being.

Thus, the Sports and Development Organization (2000) said that the objective of recreational sports and physical exercise is to be a tool for improving an individual's mental, physical, and social well-being.

Both of these empirical concepts claim to have great importance to the overall wellbeing of individuals particularly teachers. These can lead to opportunities of good health and wellness as well as the need for positive leisure experiences that can transform their lives meaningfully. This may be related to the development of a Virtual Cooperative Recreation and Wellness Program developed by the researcher since most of the teachers expressed a need for these kinds of activities.

The theoretical perspective on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Theory, Hettler’s Six Dimensions of Wellness and the Addie Model of Program Design, all contributed to the planning and development of the Virtual Cooperative Recreation and Wellness Program. It builds on the foundation that leisure motivation and achieving true wellness, despite the impending pandemic, affects opportunities for teachers to experience balanced lifestyle in work and leisure when these leisure needs are met and addressed to - since this is the final objective and end product of the program process.

In relation, Hettler’s Six Dimensions of Wellness focused on the premise that for individuals to achieve wellness in their leisure, they should find balance in all the significant areas of their life to be able to achieve true sense of wellness.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Based on the findings of the research and the conclusions formulated, responses from this research may be helpful. Some recommendations on the research were specified as follows:

1. May Educational institutions that develop and promote enriched leisure development programs understand and acknowledge that teachers, employees, and other school personnel have a variety of leisure needs. They may design appropriate recreation and wellness programs for them, and may even do so for their students. A Cooperative Recreation and Wellness program may be beneficial to personal health, as well as work performance, as it may increase productivity and efficiency According to decades of research evidence.

2. For the governing board of Faculty Associations and other officers who embody it to collaborate, plan, and carry out appropriate faculty-related development programs for the school. They should always look for ways to analyze and evaluate their school's existing development programs to discover which ones help teachers the most.

3. May teachers, staff, and other school personnel continue to cultivate their sense of creativity in the school's current development program, as well as innovate and explore ways to be resourceful in creating new programs that may be helpful to the institution's whole workforce.

Especially in light of the present transition to distant learning and online interactions, innovations in leisure programs provided by the institution to their employees may necessitate significant consideration.

4. Future researchers should continue to study on leisure motivation and leisure needs, and explore on more innovative and creative virtual approaches to implementation of leisure programs. As a basis of the conclusions of this study, school administrators, training and planning personnel from other educational institutions, and even corporate companies, will be better able to design and create richer training/development programs for their teachers, employees, and even to students on remote learning or on distant working.
