CINCH FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

CINCH SCIENCE LEARNING Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What is Cinch Learning?

Cinch Learning is not your conventional ebook, ibook or education resource. It is a complete Learning Management System developed by McGraw-Hill Education in the United States. The Science content in both the lesson pages and resources are from the well-research books that McGraw-Hill Education has. It allows teachers to customize the curriculum and content for you, dear students, to fit La Salle Zobel and the Department of Education’s curriculum and standards.

2. How do I download the Ipad Cinch App?

Downloading the Cinch application is easy. Go to your Apple AppStore and type in Cinch Learning in the search tab. The app is very light with only 4.5MB and is fast to download.

3. What do I need to Log in the Cinch app? How do I log out?

In the beginning of the school year, you are given a log in card similar to below:

This contains your unique username and password. You need this to log in the Cinch Ipad App or the Weblink (www.cinchlearning.com). Once you’ve logged in the app, it wouldn’t prompt you anymore to log in again even if you close the app. It would only request for your details again once you logged out or deleted the App in your Ipad.

To log out of the Cinch App, just click the “door” icon on the rightmost of your screen. (see below)

4. What happens if I forgot my Username and Password?

Don’t panic! Your teacher has a copy of your Account Details. You can also contact our McGraw-Hill Education Representative, Mr. Dino Danao at [email protected] or at 09177246048.

Like Facebook and other Social Media Accounts, you should be responsible for your account details.

Do not share it with anybody else and be sure you have written this in your notes, took a photo of your log in card or pasted it in your Science notebook.

5. How can I load the lesson pages and what to do with it?

To load the Lesson Pages for your class, click the tab with 3 horizontal lines (encircled below in red) to show the list of the topics you will have for the Term. Just click on the topic you will have for your classes and the lesson pages including the resources will load automatically.

As soon as you have the lesson pages loaded, you can do a lot of functions that can help you with your studies like Note Taking, Highlighting, Discussions, Wikipedia and Google Search. To do this function, just highlight the word/ phrases and select the option from the pop up option. At the bottom of each lesson page, you will sometimes be asked to submit your answers to your teachers.

6. How many lessons can I load to access content offline?

Cinch has its own caching system that allows you to save the last 4 chapters you loaded in your Ipad. Once it is loaded in your Ipad, you can have access to it offline. This includes all the other resources you loaded as well.

Once loaded, the list of the topics will have a check mark to let you know that the lesson page is available offline.

7. How do I delete highlights, notes and discussions?

If you want to delete or go back to the notes and highlights you created, just click the “bookmark” icon on the upper right hand side area of your screen and select the note or highlight you want to delete.

You can delete this by swiping leftwards just like you are deleting a message.

8. What other resources can I see in Cinch?

Each lesson would have different resources available. This ranges from animations, interactive activities, online test practice, various skills handbooks, images, links and many more. There will be times as well when your teacher will add the resources she created.

You can see this by clicking the “book” icon also on the upper right hand side area. Some resources can be loaded for offline use and some requires an internet connection.

9. Can I access Cinch using another Ipad? Other device?

Again, similar to your Social Media accounts, you can access Cinch to any device whether be it iOs, Android or even Windows. You just need an internet connection and your Account Username and Password to log in.

Using your browser, go to www.cinchlearning.com and will be prompt to input your account details.

You will be able to see and do the same activities you did in the lesson pages on your browsers. All activities you did in the browser will also be synced in your Ipads once you go online.

As of the moment, the App for offline use is only available for Ipad, Ipod Touch, Iphone and Windows tablets.

10. Does it take up a lot of memory from my Ipad?

Cinch does not take up a lot of your device memory. An average of 65MB is used for 4 lessons loaded in your device. You can still have room for your other apps.

This is because Cinch is online and has its own caching system. You will still have room for your other educational apps.

If you have any other concerns, don’t be shy to approach your respective Science teachers and they will surely help you. Enjoy using Cinch Learning!
