II. Course Name: Dispute Resolution and Crises/Incidents Management

III. Course Description: This course deals with the study of the process of dealing and resolving conflicts/disputes resolution and crises management. It includes the art of intervention through mediation and reconciliation of disagreements between stakeholder’s agencies.

Likewise, the course includes handling of crises that the criminal justice personnel are commonly encountered. Moreover, the study significantly provides mechanisms on how to adopt strategies in dealing with potential and actual crises which are being addressed by concerned agencies and authorities from law enforcement, corrections and communities.

IV. Course Learning outcomes:

CLO1: Explain the concepts of Human rights and victim welfare in times of crises.

CLO2: Demonstrate competence and broad understanding in handling disputes and crises in relation to law enforcement administration, public safety, and criminal justice.

CLO3: Apply the Principles of and Jurisprudence of Criminal Law, evidence, and criminal procedure in cases regarding dispute and crises.

CLO4: Ensure offender’s welfare and development for their re-integration to the community.

CLO5: Collaborate effectively and independently in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.

 Procedures of resolving conflicts towards settlement of specific disputes

 Preventive measures in dealing with crisis in accordance with the existing policies and statutory requirements

X. Requirements: Comply and pass all academic requirements

XI. Computation of Grades: The passing score is 50% of the total items in the examinations, while the passing grade for the semester is 75%

or 3.00. The basis for the computation of the semester grade is as follows:

Midterm grade: 70% Class standing and 30% midterm examination Final Grade: 70% Class standing and 30% final examination

Semester grade: 50% midterm grade and 50% final grade
