Abstract
This research
is
about the effects
of
ethnology and phonology
of
Korean
langUage on the Koreans' production
of
English sounds. The researcher
used the descriptive design
in
this particular research undertaking as
she
aimed to describe the nature
of
a situation as
it
existed at the time
of
the
study.
More
specifically,
the
researcher aimed
to
present the
historical
background of the Korean language, describe the ethnology and phonology
of
the Korean langtage,
point out
English
vowel
and consonant sounds
which the participants
find
easy and
difficult
to pronounce and bridge the
gap between the ethnology and phonology and their effects to speaking the
English language. Relating
the
ethnological, phonological and historical
beginning of the Korean language with the result of an interview and atape
recorded pronunciation test adopted from the Fundamentals
of
Speech and
Oral Communication with Public Speaking, there was
a positive correlation
that
appeared.
