GOD’S WORDS FOR TODAY (Lk. 11:5-13) The Holy Gospel according to St. Luke

And he said to them, "Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, `Friend, lend me three loaves;

for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him'; and he will answer from within, `Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything'? I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him whatever he needs. And I tell you, Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

REFLECTION:

What can we expect from God, especially when we recognize that he doesn't owe us anything and that we don't deserve his grace and favor? Jesus used the illustration of a late-night traveler to teach his listeners an important lesson about how God treats us in contrast to the kind of treatment we might expect from our neighbors.

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, may I never doubt your mercy and love nor hesitate to seek you with confident trust in order to obtain the gifts, graces, and daily provision I need to live as your beloved child and constant friend. Amen.

TEN REASONS TO PRAY THE ROSARY FR. ED BROOM, OMV

#9. It’s a Biblical Prayer

Pope St. John XXIII stated that the Rosary is a summary of the whole of the Gospel. They are truly based on the Bible, even the prayers of the Our Father and the Hail Mary have their foundation in the Gospels.

Therefore, by praying the Rosary fervently, we get to know Jesus and Mary better and better as presented from the Word of God, we fall in love with them and then we become their fiery and ardent Apostles in a world marked with so much coldness and indifference.

From the JHS English Department

What’s stopping you from communicating effectively?

Common barriers to effective communication include:

Stress and out-of-control emotion. When you’re stressed or emotionally overwhelmed, you’re more likely to misread other people, send confusing or off-putting nonverbal signals, and lapse into unhealthy knee-jerk patterns of behavior. To avoid conflict and misunderstandings, you can learn how to quickly calm down before continuing a conversation.

Lack of focus. You can’t communicate effectively when you’re multitasking. If you’re checking your phone, planning what you’re going to say next, or daydreaming you’re almost certain to miss nonverbal cues in the conversation. To

communicate effectively, you need to avoid distractions and stay focused.

10 Things You May Not Know About UN

The United Nations is the world’s platform to build understanding between nations, find ways to cooperate, and launch coordinated action on problems that transcend borders, from terrorism to climate change to pandemics. While many people read the headlines coming out of the UN Security Council, the organization is also active around the world, heading into crises to help the world’s most vulnerable people, promoting sustainable development, protecting human rights, and advancing peace.

As UN Foundation Founder and Chairman Ted Turner has written, “The UN does what no country can do alone. …In an interconnected world, we all have a stake in ensuring human dignity for every person.”

Here are 10 facts about the United Nations’ work that you may not know:
