Ethical standards and intellectual honesty
The observance of a high degree of ethical standards on professionalism, intellectual honesty and confidentiality of scientific information among
the PJVM editorial staff, contributors, and reviewers is of paramount importance. The PJVM advocates this primary objective as the foundation of its core values.
Intellectual honesty means moral integrity grounded on factual truth in all aspects of research from conceptualization to publication and excludes any conceived biases. It is the primary ingredient that allows scientific inquiry and process to advance.
The author/s who use/s any artwork, drawing or illustration, photograph, etc. in the publication other than his own should acknowledge the rightful owner of the intellectual property. On the other hand, the PJVM considers plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data or any form of research/
scientific misconduct as serious offenses. Any article of this nature is not allowed and will not be considered for publication.
Editorial independence
The PJVM grants the Editor-in-chief full authority over the editorial content and selection of the articles to be published. All papers included in the PJVM are solely based on the research findings, analyses, and opinions of the authors and do not necessarily convey the official policy of the PJVM, unless stated.
Furthermore, the Editor-in-chief reserves the right to refuse an article, or take any action that may be necessary to protect the scientific integrity of the PJVM.
Conflict of interest
All authors must disclose any relevant financial grant, assistance and personal relationships that may be construed as a favor given to the grantor or donor. Hence, all relevant
financial aid, assistance, interests and affiliations must be included in the Acknowledgment section.
Dispute in authorship
The PJVM is not the proper venue for lodging a complaint regarding authorship. The editors of the PJVM will not resolve or intervene in disputes among authors. The PJVM does not qualify authorship requirements. It is incumbent upon the university or institution to establish the criteria for authorship.
Animal welfare
In veterinary research, ethical standards refer to humane treatment of animals as experimental
subjects by minimizing the harms and risks involved. All research methods that require induction of a disease, drug administration,
surgical procedures, and clinical trials must comply with government laws and regulations.
All manuscripts submitted to the PJVM should have been approved by the country’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee or equivalent institution. Appropriate animal welfare laws and animal ethical guidelines of the country should have been observed on the conduct of studies on animals.
